Would you let her go?

We have a small fence that goes around our house and our door. You have to open the fence in order to get to the front door. Now whenever someone comes, they have to open the fence but our dogs are always there to give the hint, "dont just barge in" Some woman came barging through our fence in such a rude way and comes right up to me and asks me, "how do I get to the interstate?" How rude! I had my dog next to me so I was holding on to her. But should I have? The question is: Would you let her go? If I would have let her go, she may have bitten the woman. But, on the other hand, the woman was trustpassing and had no right to barge in. What do you think?

Hi and Welcome to MyLot! I can see the problem with people coming thru your fence and to your door, past your dogs. If I were you, I would have held on to her. Even though the woman was indeed trespassing, in some parts of the US you can get fined for your dog harming a person, even if it's on your own property. The only thing you can do is put a padlock on your fence. By the way, do you ever have a problem with someone opening the gate and maybe not closing it behind them and your dogs get out? We have a large back yard and it is completely fenced. In the past we've had some kids open the gate and leave it open and then when my dogs go out to do their job, they get out. I now have padlocks on the gates and give a key to my lawn boy. Have a nice night and I hope you come to love MyLot as much as I do, Char

Thats a good point, before the woman left I told her to not let the dog out and she said I was rude and she didn't care! Maybe I will have to get a padlock if this happens anymore. Thanks for your response and you have a good night too:)

ok i am a 20 year old guy myself and what i may say you may not like but this is the reason your mom not letting you go with your b/f. shes afraid that hell do something stupid or worse and she doesnt want to see that happen to you. no matter how old you are she will always be your mother. maybe something bad happened to her in the past. just sit down and talk with your mom and just ask questions of how her life was like and maybe youll et your answer. and with all these weird murders happening nowadays id be a little concerned myself. even though you know him really well he may turn on you just be careful.i have seen this happen before.
