punishment at school. how much or how little? most of the children spend a good time at school . twelve years or so and about six hours a day. the entire childhood is devoted to getting educated. your parents expect you to be something when you come out of school , ready for being a professional in some field and many will move out to different places for study away from their parent! so what level of punishment should you recommend for any indiscipline or some misbehaviour for students from the teachers or school? for study related things say under performance, or social mis behaviors?

all behavior/ study are undertaken by school. Because it's six hours[this time you describe] are under in school.so,any order will be break than school will punish.

It's sad and unbelievable to know about the kinds of punishment that children sometimes are made to go through in school. Ive been a student and I have also taught children for many years though not in a school. I have believed that it making the child aware and realise is the right way of going about it. Bringing about this awareness in the child should not involve any physical force or even humiliation which causes the child to go into shell.

Hi there. I believe to respond to this issue depends on the nature and tolerance of the school one teaches. In my case, I am connected to a Catholic higher education institution; physical punishment is never allowed however, to the best of our abilities as educators, we have to effectively implement sanctions due to "misbehaviours" done by students. I think all educators really want to discipline students only for their own good and advantage. We have to let them know that what they're doing is not correct and they have to learn from it and also, they must be taught how to recover from such mistakes. Happy posting!
