Say from the Gerber Plan for example? We have it on our daughter. And when the new baby comes we will do the same.It makes it easier for them to get future insurance, plus they can withdrawl the money for school purposes. Do you think this is a good idea?

I would really have to look it up on the internet, but my gut tells me that buying insurance as an investment for your kids is of less value than the insurance company might try to imply.

I don't have any children but if I did I would sure enough have life insurance on them and start them young so maybe as they get older they will continue that responsilbilty later on. I know I have tried on several occasions for my mom to get it for my little sister but she keeps putting it off. I would love the fact that you can take out for school. Mabye it would be good to be able to buy school clothes and supplies without taking away from the bill money and being short on them because you tried to buy your kids school clothes. And also good for school trips.

It is good thing to have a policy on children especially when the kids are young age, as the premium factor is very low.. I think the Gerber Plan is of endowment type. What is the duration of the policy that you have taken, and what is premium that works out to be? Can you share here?
Because i work in Life insurance corporation of India, and we have such kind of policies, i just want to compare the pricing of the products.
Take care friend.

I can't afford that, but if I could, I'd start with a life insurance plan for me and hubby. We don't even have one, and I think that will be more useful to them in case something happens to us.

Yes, I would buy one for my baby. My husband and I have already planned for that. By the time the insurance mature, it will be used as my child education fund. I think it is a way for saving and at the same time, we can use the money if there is any emergency! :)
