it depends on what type of dr' visit it is. For example, when my daughter went in for her root canal at age 3, she was put to sleep and I had to pay for a on site anethesiologist for the rate of $115/hr. I was definelty nervous because they require cash. What made me even more nervous, I was taking her there all by myself without my husband. So when I arrived, I started to panick and did not know what to do. I was afraid she may never wake up, then I was nervous and got my stomach upset and so forth. They don't allow me in there room, because the last time my son had a root canal. I threw up in the room from seeing all the blood on him. Finally I sat down and took a nap in the waiting room-. why? Because I did not sleep all night the day before. Finally 3 hours later, the dentist called me in. I cried when I saw how swollen my daughter's face ,and lips were. But I knew that now she won't be complaining of pains anymore. Sorry, I don't know what to tell you. Every parent always gets nervous when it comes to their child's health.

I've never gotten nervous when taking my kids to the doctor or dentist, unless there was something very seriously wrong. It's not good for your kids to see you nervous. It will make them nervous. My own mother was like that... she got upset over everything! I started to be that way, but quickly remembered how she had affected me. I didn't want to affect my own kids that way, so I would always be calm, or at least appear calm. But kids are funny... they can sense what we're feeling. So, try to think of it this way... if there's nothing happening at that very moment, why get nervous? There's plenty of time to be nervous if you get bad news! Until then, just try to be happy. If I were in your situation, I'd probably try to think about FINALLY getting this done and over with! Something like, "by this time tomorrow... this will all be over!" It worked for me! Good luck. I hope all is well with your daughter's teeth and the appointment goes well.

Hi Mikes, That is very normal..I remember when I was a child, My Father is the one who is more nervous than me..LOL! Anyway, just try to be positive that dentist is dealing with different patients everyday and that they are expert of what they are doing! Let us know later after the appointment!
