Do you get the impression some people don't read the posts

but just the headlines instead? I posted about water being discovered on Mars and showing photographic proof but the responses I got led me to believe nobody had read the content or clicked on the link. Has this happened to you? What I thought was funny and humorous obviously went over some folks' heads....or am I just not funny? LOL!

It happens all the time. People are in a hurry and read/see what they want to and that's it. I am somewhat of a speedreader and I have to admit that I've probably done it in my haste to just pick out certain words. I don't do it on purpose to cheat anyone, it's just the way I normally read, even novels.

Except a few most of them just read 4 lines max every time because you loose patience and get lost away .So based on the 4 lines they read they jum to conclusion or fill in their opinion which most of the time loos hilarious and we have to think a lot to put a comment for that response LOL..

I get that impression on almost every discussion I start by at least one responder. I feel like if you are going to respond to some one have the common curtsey to read the discussion! I just recently stared one about budgets and what catogory are you in ... every one was telling me how to get out of debt - I NEVER said I was in debt! In fact I said just the oppsite! Anyway good discussion! PS I didn't read the Mars disussion but will now...

Hey Michael, I think it is a mixture of what you said to be honest. Some may not have read the post properly or followed the link but also the humour may have gone over their heads. I too have posted things that I have found hilarious only to find that no one else sees it in the same way at all LOL

Yes, I understand you. I had posted some interesting and informative topic but its either one response or none at all. Well, I guess it depends on the crowd here at that time. From my observation, if the crowd today are a little younger generation, topics like actresses and artists are hot in the discussions. Well, don't feel bad. You are not alone. By the way, i also respond and join only to topics inmy interests. Maybe, few people have that interest. Take care

There are some people who come on MyLot just to post and make a quick dollar, then there are other people who come here to actually have discussions (but still make some extra money), the people you should care about are the later. Eventually people will realize that MyLot is best for discussions, not for money making. And about water on Mars: how cool would it be to send a human up there in our lifetime?

I didn't see that post but I think it is a common thing for people to read the headline and not the entire post. I've had plenty of responses that missed the mark to. It onlt really annoys me when it's a personal topic and the responders assume wrongly about my feelings. I state a fact and they jump on me for being negative or whatever. Usually I just correct the first few responders and ignore the rest. It's not worth my time to deal with people who won't spend a little time on my posts. Judging from this post, you're funny but yeah, sometimes people here don't get funny. LOL I once tried a silly hypothetical post about brain transplants. I did get a few serious responses but others gave me answers like "Do you even know this is possible?", "I don't think medicine can do this...are you stupid?" Well you get the idea....funny just didn't work!

Oh yes, that's my favorite movie too! ROFLMAO Yes! I have noticed that way too many people only read the headline and not the entire post. I think they're just trying to get their response in without having to make the effort to read and I don't believe that type of response should be counted by mylot!

Hi Michael, I get this sometimes in mine but chose to overlook really as they have in fact responded and sometimes because of the many languages spoken here I can understand as some of my posts are quite long and indepth. Ellie :D

Yes some people do read the heading and not the discussion topic. I have noticed this from my own and other people's discussions. It really is quite funny to see sometimes. Not everyone will be familiar with the chocolate covered item in the picture - but it is still funny. Don't be put off by people who can't be bothered to read your posts Michael - they just show themselves up as not really being interested and are only in it for the money. All they will get from doing it is some negative ratings.

I didn't read the particular post you are mentioning, but if a post is too long I usually get tired of reading it. If I'm CLOSE to the end I might still respond and maybe miss part of the action. Posting purely based of the title is pretty weak though.

Michael I read your post I always do. The only one that got me confused was the one about soup and soap. LOL

I also experienced that. Others are like that. What they do is that they want to reply as soon as possible without even grasping the real essence of your post. I read some of the responses that I have received in my post are even related to what I am talking about! Well, I appreciated them because they still managed to reply to my post but somehow I feel bad especially I did get the right onformation, or answer to my question. By the way, did I answer your question?

Well firstly it's good that you can laugh at it! Yes this has happened to me and you think blimey, where did that come from, but then you get used to it, you have to take it with a pinch of salt and more importantly have a sense of humour. Some people get really narky about it and tempers fray, but at the end of the day we are only human and sometimes we can either misconstrue what the discussion is all about or we skim read, skimmers don't you just love them, but they do bring a smile to your face at least. Some people are only interested in the money they get for responding and don't care what the discussion is all about, but for the sake of a cent or whatever, is it really worth it I ask myself! Now I am really sorry I missed your water discovered on Mars discussion I would have loved to have read the responses for a laugh! People take Mylot so seriously and it's nice to hear someone who is light-hearted about it!
