Well it depends on if I am talking with them in person or online. If it's online then I say hey whats up but if its in person I ask them usually what kind of movies or music they like.

actually I would start the conversation with a smile, flirt with her for 5 minutes till she blushes ( easy job )
then spend the rest of the date listening to her flirting with me!
