I have a question which I hope will make for a good discussion. I was talking to my daughter Erica who is ten about something she would enjpy participating in. Alot her friends take different types of classes and her dad wont her take any because he doesnt have the time to take her and pick her up. So I told her I would enroll her if she a particular intrest . She said she would think about it and let me know. Well her stepdad heard her singing and told her she was really good at it. I hear her sing all the time and I think she had a natural talent for it but I didnt want to sound like the boosting mom. So I suggested singing lessons to her and she got really upset. She said singing lessons were for people with really bad voices and that I must think she is a horrible singer. I told her singing lessons werent for people with really bad voices. It was a way to learn different techniques and the right pitch and notes and alot of other stuff. You can go from having a good voice to a great voice. I told her she has a natural talent at singing so why not take classes to get better and later on try to make a career from it. She still was upset so I dropped it. She has some ideas on classes she wants to take so she will be choosing one from her list. I wont push her on the singing lesson but I hope one day she will ask me if she can take them. So so you agree that if comeones takes singing lessons its not because they are a horrible singer its just to learn so you can grow and develope and later on become a outstanding singer. Even being a singer means learning the trade and practicing.

As a kid I took singing lessons.. and to be honest I can relate to your daughter because when my mom enrolled me I thought the same, But I gave it a chance regardless and there is sooo much more involved they singing. In my lessons I was thought how to breathe while performing, stage fright, Holding the mic, holding notes longer, breathing excercises.. singing lessons strengthen your vocal chords so you can pitch higher. If you try to reach higher notes than you are comfortable with you can actually damage your vocals. There are places around that have singing dancing and even drama classes all in one. Maybe your daughter wwould be interested in that. I hope she changes her mind since I had the best times in my classes.

I will look into that. I tried to expalin all of that to her but she jusr didnt want to listen. But like I said I wont pressure her because I dont want her to resent like I did my own mother. But you have given me a idea so I appreciate your response.
