Everyone has their own definition of being "free" For some it is the ability to have a job and make your own money. For others it is independence. I would say in some aspects I am free. Being a mother though I no longer put myself first. My child comes before me. Cultural differences change how one perceives freedom. If these things are an issue for you, try discussing it with your parents, if possible.

Do You Want to Be Free? - -
If being dependent is your measure of being free, then I am free. It is a good thing to be able to decide for yourself and not have someone to tell you what to do. You feel that you are being held against your will because you can't go anywhere without a chaperon. If you really want to be free, you also have to work for it. Being independent must mean that you have to live on your own, have your own house, own car, have a job, and does not depend on your parents for any support. Why don't you think about your predicament in another way. It is a good feeling that your mother still helps you decide what to wear, maybe she wants to have a bonding moment with you and selecting dresses is one of those times. Curfew time is natural for women because the world is not safe. They are just trying to protect you against hoodlums or bad persons that may take advantage of you when you stay very late. Life is like that there are things that go your way and some things don't happen the way you plan. But look at the bigger picture. Maybe it is for your good. Take Care !
