My sisters and I stopped on our way home from our family reunion in New Ulm Minnesota and visited the Herman Heights park. You can climb up the base of the statue and then all the way to the top. I decided to face my fears and climb up with my sisters. I only got half way up the stairs and started getting sick so I came back down. They went to the top and when they got back both of them were sick and my youngest's sisters knees were shaking. I watched them when they got to the very top and they were pasted up against the wall...scared to death! Do you have a fear you would like to conquer? I just couldn't do it. If the stairway had been enclosed I think I could have....but not when it's an open staircase. Share your biggest fear!

I don't blame you for not going up to the top of the statue. I couldn't have done it either unless it was enclosed. I get dizzy if I'm up high and look down. Feel like I am going to fall. My biggest fear is flying in a plane. Just don't like it but will do it. Am terribly anxious the night before the flight when leaving and then coming back home again.

The Arch is nice but not for me. I went up in the tram on the side of the Arch as everyone does. Got to the top, walked across the walkway, got back on the tram and went back down. I hated every minute...lol Let my kids up there with their grandmother. They wouldn't go back down with me but I felt as though the Arch was swaying when in fact I believe it was the clouds moving by. Our kids loved it.

I would have to say mine is fear of heights and free falling. It seems the higher I go the scareder I get. I told my friend about this and he said "Do you want to over come your fear of height for good?" I just looked at him and said "how is that feesably possible?" he told me "I knw of a place where I can take you where you get in a plane they go thousands of feets into the air. They strap a harness and a parchute to ya and you free fall out of a plane back to land" I looked at him with eyeballs the size of monster truck tires saying "what? are you crazy you looking to give me heart failure?" he said "no but you'll over come your fear of heights and free falling for good" I seriously in all honesty don't think I can do it. I have watched people bungee jump and that's just nuts. I don't care if your harnessed or not. There's gotta be a better solution to getting over my fear of heights. If I'm completely enclosed in something then yaeh got the height but don't open no door and expect me to fall out free willing oh no.

Hi Jill, My attitude is that fear breeds fear so I try not to be scared of anything however I do not like heights like this, put me in an aeroplane and I'm fine but on the edge of something no way. I just feel ill. Ellie :D

That is no problem for me...it would be the fear of failing. There are many things that if I would attempt I may be good at, however I usually picture myself falling short of success rather than succeeding and it often prevents me from even making the attempt.

AH....I'm sorry about that! You have to change your mind set to thinking that if you try something new you have nothing to lose! Churchill said...Success is not final..failure is not fatal.....it's the courage to continue that counts!

I DON'T LIKE HEIGHTS. My mom also had a fear of falling from heights. I avoid bleachers, bell towers, ferris wheels, elevators to the 60th plus floor, attics with stairs, airplanes. I get panic attacks. The only fear I need to conquer would be flying.

I can fly because I am enclosed but like you and your mom I don't like being out in the open very high! Ferris wheels are the worst!

I know what you mean....sometimes it's hard to do everything yourself, make the decisions and just be by yourself. I like being alone for the most part but there are times when I do get lonely.

thats one way of overcoming the fear i guess..yes i had one experienced that make me overcome my fear of traveling alone..My husband was assigned in the nearby city in our place and i decided to come along just for a week and maybe like to see the place myself at the same time..and its 2 hours travel by bus..on going there ..no problem at all since my husband was with me and driving but when its my turn to go home alone i had to take the bus..i hate commuting with public transport nonetheless traveling alone ...but i had to... and overcome it and now i can go anywhere riding a bus and its fun to be with some people..
