i can get about three or four hours of sleep a night and i can get up and go the next morning, and i don't really have a problem getting out of bed in the morning but about four or five hours after i am out of bed i just seem to get so sleepy and just want to go back to bed where as when i first got up i was wide awake..and i didn't even really want to go back to bed...so does this ever happen to anyone else or is it just me that it happens to? because i don't really think that i am the only one that feels like this...

It happens to me often. It hasn't happened to me lately though, I tend to wakeup with my eyes wide open but it's better then feeling sleepy. I really enjoy sleeping myself but this happens to me always during the school year when I have to wakeup 5:30. I feel so tired when my alarm clock rings, I just set it to 15 more minutes so I could sleep longer. Well, it also depends what time you went to sleep that night, are you sure you didn't sleep around 1 am or 2 am? Do you have trouble sleeping at night? Try sleeping earlier and it should resolve the problem. If you still have a problem sleeping or waking up in the morning, talk to your doctor, it doesn't mean your sick, it just means your curious to find out what the problem is. Anyways, good luck and hope you can wake up easier in the future!

For some unknown reason, I've been sleeping in a similar pattern lately. After about three hours of sleep I'm up and on my way. The, at about 2PM, i'm suddenly so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open. Since I'm still teaching classes at that time, I can't stretch out and nap. I hope my 6th period students don't realize they don't get the same class the earlier periods had! By the time I get home, I'm wide awake again, and I have trouble getting to sleep at a reasonable hour. I don't know why it happens, but I do know I don't like it!

good day it can happen to me once in awhile. Sleeping very late then waking up relatively happy then sleepy after some hours after. I guess we just need to adjust our sleeping habits.

It happens to me all the time. I have really weird sleeping problems and suffer with insomnia usually in the summer. Sometimes I get really tired when I only get a few hours of sleep but I've also gone 2 days without sleeping and didn't feel tired at all. It was the strangest thing because I had to physically exhaust myself by running miles so that I could go to sleep.

I have been feeling the very same way for a while now... I can't sleep well at night and then after being up for a few I get incredibly sleepy.. and of course I can never go back to bed and then the sleepy phase will pass and I will get a little energized again and then when night time rolls back around I am not sleepy and have trouble falling asleep... it seems to be a never ending cycle... I am not sure, but maybe it is just that we have our days and nights mixed up... :)

yup, this happens to me too. Try having a routine that your body clock can adapt too. During the trying time (after lunch). do something more productive so you will not get sleepy. Try to discipline yourself not to sleep in the afternoon then try to sleep later in the night so that you get longer sleep. Drink something warm to calm your senses too.

You know what I have actually been suffering from insomnia lately. I mean I used to have problems going to sleep but now it got worse where I would just stay up for a long time before drifting of into sleep. There have been times that the same thing has happened to me. I would wake up and feel so energized and I was surprised because I only slept like three hours the night before. Then a while later I feel so sleepy that I am able to keel over. So I run on my treadmill and it helps a bit. Last night I actually went to bed and I fell right asleep. I was really happy about that and when I woke up this morning I was still a little bit sleepy but it was the most sleep I've gotten these past few weeks. Hopefully I'll get to sleep some more tonight.

That happens to me too sometimes. I think it's a delayed response to your boding craving for more sleep. At least that's how I see it. It's nothing to be worried about, you just need to have a firmer time and sleeping schedule. I think that by doing this you will feel this less often. Like I'm one to talk, my sleeping patterns are off the charts right now lol.

This happens occasionally to me. Having 3 small children and a lack of sleep will do this to me. Long days with children and always on the go, 4-5 hours after I wake up I just want to sleep.

It happens to me too.I guess its because when you wake up after 3 or 4 hours its easier to wake up but your body only holds up for as much as 5 or 6 hours. You obviously need atleast 7 hours of sleep right. So you start getting sleepy after a while. It happens to me a lot.Especially after attending late night parties it can get really bad when i'm trying to go about my normal daily routine.

hmm maybe it's mind over body... your mind says wake up you need to go to work so you eagerly wake up and off you go. However, when you get to work you get sleepy and tires.... your body says "IM tIRED" i can't work anytime we need to go home and rest. Maybe you should try having 8 hours sleep then see if things will go differently or not. Sometimes eventho we got use already in sleeping just a few hours a day when we were younger but our body changes as we grow older.. maybe your body needs more time sleeping now than before where 3-4 hrs sleep is enough already. =)
