Firewall is our system protection to the outside world. We wont be needing them in our PC if we won't connect it to the internet. Computer these days are practically useless if not connect to the internet and therefore it is an integral part of its security. It guard and controls the in coming and out going communications through every entry points in our system called ports for any communication activity. It will not allow any thing to pass through without our approval. A very common miss conception is that when we have installed a firewall we are protected - WE'RE NOT. Window XP is on by default but we still are infected by spywares. We have to configure it and correctly respond to its prompt and error messages.
