Why do they put nutrition information on candy wrappers?

I find this to be a bit silly. The ingredients always start with the word sugar and then read like molecular code for cavities. All of them have this little fact too. "*Contains less than 2% of the Daily Value of these nutrients." No kidding? Who didn't know that. If your diet consists of Skittles then you won't only be tasting the rainbow but also some embalming fluid.

I don't know which country you're from. But I guess that's the law.
Disclosure to the consumers.

The ingredients are listed in the order of quantity of that ingredient in the product. (That way you don't think your eating something of value with a dash of sugar in it).
The molecular code is for those who would like to reproduce the same mistakes at home.
Finally, they have to say it contains less than 2% of your Daily requirements so you will know you have to eat at least 50 of them a day to reach your daily nutritional needs.
I hope this helps.

Haha...that is kinda silly isn't it? Everybody knows its mostly made of sugar, and not very nutritional at all for you. My nephew eats Skittles all the time, I don't see why he eats so much candy. I try to tell him its not good for him, but you know how kids are. Any time he may have a dollar in his pocket he has to go to the store and get candy. My husband and I are always trying to teach him to buy better things with his money but he don't listen, he's a kid..lol.

We have to read labels due to the fact that daughter has celiac disease and I wish they would do more on the labels. I can not get over that on the twix candy bar it does list wheat in the ingrediants but not in the allergen line. In the allergen line it says may contain nuts. Hello!!!!! What about the wheat???
But yea I do see what you are saying in that there is not much for nutrients in candy and then they tell you that. But who knows maybe someone doesn't realize that fact.

It is to remind you that the candies contain little or no nutritional value and it is best to skip them. So if someone tells you that chocolate is good for you, and also whole grains and peanut butter, then listing the word sugar plus the other deadly ingredients such as sucrose and frutcose will let you know that this is only a snack and it is best for you to go for the bananas, oranges, and apples instead.

I really think it's just because of regulations and stuff. They pretty much have to put it on any food product that people are going to consume. It might also be because some people have food allergies, and if this wasn't listed, someone might eat something that they were allergic to and either get sick or die.
That's my best guess anyway.. LOL I know that most people probably don't look at the info anyway, but I usually look at the nutritional info and stuff, just because I'm interested in that stuff. LOL

some candies have ingrediants that some people are allergic to, so putting the info on the label help those who are allergic to know before they eat it, and some people like to know thier sugar intake also

You made me laugh! All this is so very true! It's not like we could live a healthy life on candy! A short one, maybe, but not a healthy one!
I don't indulge any longer in the wonderful world of candy.
I'm on a diet! But, I actually love my new diet! It consists mainly of more fruits and veggies and less meat. I will admit, however, that I cheat every now and then with a Snicker's Bar or some ice cream.
Skittles? Yum! Embalming fluid! Apparently, it must taste GOOD! But then again, fat tastes good, too, and we all know how bad that is for us! (Ah, red meat... I remember it well.) @moonlitmagikchild (22181)

Because the FDA requires that it be on all food packages now just so that idiot that does not understand that snickers is not packed full of vitamins can't sue someone later. LOL!

I think it is okay that they put the ingredients on a wrapper because I am allergic to certain things and I wouldn't want to eat something that would send me to the hospital for a shot. Well,I don't know why they do the daily value thing because not alot of people pay attention to that.

I don't bother reading them. I already know that they are bad for me. So I just eat what I want in the candy department and just forget looking at the ingredients. I do find this to be a bit silly myself.

i think they have to by law.
to be honest,i probably would be better off not knowing what's in some of the candies.one i saw the other day had an unbelieveable amount of salt for something that was supposed to be sweet.

i think its probably to make parents think the kids arent just eating sugar and are getting something else out of it. lol. trouble is, my aunt used to eat nothing but candy and ended up with malnutrition

I like to watch my calories and eat semi healthy, but when I splurge and eat something like a candy bar, I like to know how many calories I'm consuming and whatnot. It helps me to not go over what I should be consuming, and I know what I need to sacrifice in order to satisfy my sugar tooth :)
