Please explain, "Bread and wine" in Bible

Hi all, I was reading about this, "This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you." (Luke 22:20). that the bread which they ate was his body, and the wine was his blood. was not able to understand the the massage behind it. please please explain me.
