Do You Take Vitamins?

I take vitamins every morning and I have for years. As I have gotten older, I've added a number of different supplements. I take a multi-vitamin with a formula to help lower cholesterol. I also take a calcium and vitamin D supplement twice a day. I also take an Omega 3 supplement another to help ease joint pain. It sounds like a lot and it is, but I would like to think that they are doing some good. Do you also take vitamin supplements? If so, what do you take and how many times a day? Do you think they are making a difference in your health?

I take a variety also on a daily basis, but some I keep just for certain conditions. I have Fibromyalgia and Arthritis so I have a very hard time getting around some days and exercise is sometimes out of the question. Though I eat regularly, I don't really eat a lot of food to help keep my weight down. So I take a broad spectrum multi vitamin & mineral every morning. Since people with Fibro are usually low on Magnesium I also take a little extra, it also helps keep swelling in my joints down to a minimum. I tend to be a bit anemic so I take an extra iron supplement too. I also take my cod liver oil for the Omega 3s and other benefits. During the winter when there isn't a lot of fresh fruit available I will take a little extra vitamin C. I have a problem with insomnia on occasion so I always keep Valerian capsules and Chamomile tea round. But the rare times when these won't take care of it I keep a small bottle of Melatonin. That always works for me and it doesn't take much, 1 mg will usually have me snoozing in no time. If I don't take my supplements there is a noticeable difference within a couple of days. I feel very lethargic and exhausted all the time. I have enough health problems so I try to head off any extra problems by keeping myself as healthy as I can.

I also have problems sleeping at times and take Valerian and Melatonin as well on those nights. I'd rather take a natural supplement, than taking something that is prescribed for fear of addiction.

I have a habit of taking vitamin C every morning. My health really improves a lot and I seldom get flu or cold after I have started practicing this habit. I think supplements do help in boosting our immune system to certain extent. But always bear in mind, don't overeat or take overdose supplements. That's for sure is harmful to our body.

I have to agree with you about helping to boost the immune system. I definitely don't get sick as much and I work with kids during the school year.

I don't take special vitimines, I just eat foods that contain the viimines that I think I need.
