I picked some fresh blackberries and fresh black raspberries out of the yard a few days ago. I got about 3 cups of each. I used the black raspberries in a cobbler with some peaches that I had in the freezer from our tree last year. It was yummy! Do you like berries? What are your favorite kind? Have you ever picked them fresh?

Lucky you! I love every sort of berry, but they're really hard to grow in the subtropics. I sispect I wouldn't have the discipline to get them into baking. I'd probably just inhale them and feel the juice dripping all over my clothes! You must be in a cooler climate. I guess our mangoes and bananas and papayas make up for the berries, but I do buy them frozen. For a very short time, we do have fabulous strawberries!

The bananas, mangoes, and papayas sound good too! I live in Missouri, so the weather is not quite as hot as where you are in Florida.

Wild berries and rhubarb would make a great dessert. We had rhubarb when I was growing up.

When I was a little girl, we had summer houses on Cape Cod. Wild blueberries and cranberries were everywhere, and they were wonderful! I brought my aunt wild berries, wild rhubarb and wild asparagus to make with dinner, then a bunch of us kids would wade into the ocean and dig clams for the entree. We didn't know we were being junior ecologists. We just knew we were having fun and some great food!

Oh wow that sounds good! My dad has told me stories of how he and his siblings would go outside for their mom when they were younger, and pick blackberries. He said they usually ate more than they ended up with in their buckets! He loves blackberry cobbler, and swears no one ever made it better than his mother. I've never picked any kind of berries myself, other than poisonous ones my mom made me drink epicac for when I was five. I guess my favorite kind of berry is either a raspberry or a strawberry.

Yes, yummy I love fresh berries. I love to pick them fresh as well. I love pretty much all fresh fruit. We just had some fresh melon the other night with our dinner, and it was a great finish. I used to make fresh applesauce with my mom and freeze it, and it was always a great treat in the winter! Ok, you made me hungry.

Fresh applesauce sounds good. I bet my daughter would love that. We have a Macintosh apple tree in the yard too. Maybe I could make her some when the apples are ready.

I love raspberries, blueberries, and fresh strawberries. I also like blackberries. I picked them for a month straight when I was in High School. I picked them like two summers in a row. My mother made pies and froze alot of the berries also and we had blackberry pie in the winter also. Picking berries brings back some delicious memories for me. Actually, I also picked them with my grandmother. She used to have currants and we picked those too.

fresh berries are the best. i used to go blueberry picking with my sister. we'd get up a four am and drive to a blueberry farm and pick for hours. you can eat as much as you want for free. then you can buy what you pick or they will pay you for picking.

Sounds like a good way to get some fresh berries.
