What is the interest ranking in myLot?

This is my 6th day in myLot, I am still at the stage of getting more information about myLot. Over the passed 6 days, I have learned from the dicussions that:
1. how to get participate in myLot? The answer: you can post response and comment, create new discussion, upload photo, submit tag, using smiley.
2. we can use smiley when we have 200 posts
3. where to get the smiley? The answer: on your left, there is a "myLot code" link.
4. we can use copy and paste functions when we have 500 posts
5. how to upload avatar? The answer: on top of the page, there is a few links, look for preference, you can upload your avatar there.
Now, I notice that under my profile, there is a link which show my interest ranking. Anyone knows what is the interest ranking used for? Is it help when you get to higher level? What is it different from the colourful stars?

The interest ranking is the way to show how much did a mylotter been active and providing the high quality responses and discussions.
level indicates the QUANTITATIVE effort and rank in interest denotes QUALITATIVE effort.
ie you will get the first rank if you have started a discussion and you are the only one in that interest and you will be in level 1.
But you have to be more active and provide good content to get a rank 1 in popular interest like mylot and a higher level.
my ranking level in interest MYLOT is 16.

I am confused. I thought what I see in Interest ranking is telling me my Level of a interest. Example: My interest ranking in Life is Level 12 now, so you mean it is indicating my QUANTITAIVE effort, correct? Then, may I know where to check the QUALITATIVE effort inside the interest ranking?
And another question, is that Level 16 the top level? I saw many people got that level in interest Life too. :)

I think you get higher rank within the total no of user in the interest when your responses are good and more in number. (like your rank in the mylot.com 18731 out of 22647)
These are the things i understood, don't know whether right or wrong.
The highest level i got is 16 AND ranked 190 in mylot

Now I know what is the rank you referring to! I saw it in my interest ranking now.
Thank you so much for taking your time to clear my doubt. Hopefully I can reach higher level and rank soon! I wonder that will affect the earning not. Anyway, I set my first milestone to be "Reach 200 posts and be able to use smileys"!
