hello friends, one day, you come into a bookstore. you want to buy a novel. there you are. finally you have to choose. you have two books on your hand. one, "My Name is Red," a literary novel written by Orhan Pamuk. two, "Neverwhere," a popular novel wrtten by Neil Gaiman. it takes long time to enjoy literary novel, but you can read it next month while keep remembering its story. on the other hand, reading popular novel gives us transient effect - sometimes we don't want to read it more than once. so, with the two books on your hand, which one would you choose: literary novel or popular novel? the most important is, WHY?

I love books and both read literary and popular novel. I don’t go for genre, as long as it is good and interest me is that matters most.

I wouldn't rule either out because of the genre. It would depend on which one looked the most interesting.
