The greatest women's player since Mia Hamm has broken her leg and will be out for three months squandering her chance at playing in the Olympics. The best women's team in the world has lost its star player. How will the US cope without Wambach and will the US be able to acheive victory and a gold medal in Beijing without her? Thanks Zelo

It will be tough going for sure but I still have hope that we may come out on top and win a few victory to make Wambach proud of them. Times like this that we(they) need to pull together and let prayer help them through what I am sure will be a tough and trying times.

Abby Wambach - Abby Wamback striker for the US women's soccer team
Playing the Chinese (currently #14 in the world) and two other Asian teams in the top ten (Japan/10 & N. Korea/6) is going to be a tough tough task for the girls. Remember though... this team has never been ranked lower than 2nd in the world (when they did that in '03 and then bounced back to #1 this year) and have all the elements except now the question mark is going to be striker. Who's stepping up as the US go to girl?Goalie is another position but that is for another post! Thanks Zelo

Natasha Kai might be the one who will take over maybe. But it is truly a shame that Wambach can't play at the Olympics. But I bet she will be there at the side lines if she can. She is having a rod put in her leg. I do have to wonder if they took her out of the running because they knew she would be a threat and decided to get her out of the way. Look what Tonya Harding did to try to win. But Mia just might have to come out of retirement to help the U.S.

Abby Wambach - This is a photo of Soccer star Abby Wambach who was injured during a play on the field it is a shame ethis had to happen.
Do you think Mia Hamm will come out of retirement and compete for the U.S.? Or do you think that the girls are strong enough to carry them to a win? I know they did okay after she was injured but is it enough?

Tibia AND fibula. OUCH! I think they still have a shot in the competition. They will just have to work a little harder now to stay in it. http://www.wormportal.com/news/index.php?news=amy+wambach

I still think the same... there is going to be firepower missed and it is not the first time she has missed time on the field and the team was able to hang in there. Thanks for the response. Zelo
