Do you think that the old generation had more opportunities than the new generation?

I would have to say,it depends on how far back you wish to go,I was born just after the second world war,and as I was growing up,there were all kinds of opportunities, for work as well as play. I would say, there are plenty of them in most ages,it is just a matter of making use of them. As there were no computers back then,we just went out to find things to do,I was never without money to go to shows or buy what I wanted,I would take any job I could find, and there were plenty for a young fellow willing to work. I started off delivering groceries for the food store and then perscripsions and such from the pharmacy on my bike, then when I was 10,I started babysitting, this I have done for close to 40 years now,but the one thing I wish to say is,I have never been out of work. There are plenty of jobs here now,but no one wants to work anymore. the opportunities are there, you just have to grab them.

That is absolutely true! I had a friend in HR and he used to say all this bla bla about no jobs, etc is not true. Is never scarcity of jobs but incompetent people or the ones that do not want to work. Thank you for your answer!

Hello, valeria! The old generation had no opportunities in their days,in fact they were living in hardship.in our school days we had no electricity in our homes,no radio,no tv,or computer,no car,no bike.we were going to schools and colleges by foot,we had to wait for some days to get news from friends and relations, for treatment there were no specialised doctors and no sophisticated medicines and people were dieing for not getting proper treatment, but now a days the technology has developed and the present generation are enjoying the fruits of the technology.we had no opportunity to go abroad for higher studies which the present generation is enjoying.we no employment scope excepting a low salaried government job but the present generation have vast scope for a bright future. So in my opinion the present generation are better off than the older generation.thanx.

The older generation would say no and we would say yes. It is something which would always be debated. One could give a simple reason of there being much more people aound today because of the increased population in favor of the new generation thereby reducing the opportunities. The argument against would be more development, technology..., therby more opportunities.

Not really I think. The most important is ability, not age.Maybe sometimes age means more experience but experience can't decide whether we can succeed, right?
