vista or XP on laptop?

i was using vista on my laptop since i bought this one. last week i was really upset about the thing he was so slow that i decided to change it to XP.
it was not so easy to deal with this change but now it works so fine and really fast
do u think vista is good on a laptop?

It depends on your computer's specs, actually.
If you're running Vista on a computer that has only 512mb of RAM, then yes, it WILL be slow, especially if you run Vista Ultimate with Aero mode turned on. Even if you used the other versions of Vista, if your memory is too slow, then Vista would be slow.
Vista's minimum requirements is 512mb, though it's generally recommended to get at LEAST 1gig of ram or more. Compare that against XP, which generally requires a minimum of 256mb but preferably more.
So is Vista good for your laptop? Only if your specs meet it. If not, you're better off UPgrading to XP.

when i order this laptop, it was only 512 mb, and i was sure it wasn't enough for it (vista was pre-install on) so i bought 1 go to make it well.
It's definitly slow, and XP now is really good.
i was just thinking that ACER is selling computer with Vista without capacity to deal with it, this sux

Hi there, yes it really does depend on the specs of the laptop you are using. Xp is a faster operating system as it uses less system resources such as ram. Windows Vista does use quite a lot more resources than xp, so much so that it makes my games jerk where as on xp its fine. I am using 1.5gb of ram but really its not enough to run vista and games, Im upgrading to a quad core , 8gb ram, 9800 x2 1gb beast lol.

it depends on the specs of your laptop.. if your processor is in dual core technology, then its performance is good..you must consider the memory(RAM) and your video memory must be aleast 256mb would be better ;)

xp on my laptop. my sister stressed that i should use it. she has her own web design business so i took her advice and it is working great for me.
