menieres disease

I have a disease of the ear called menieres disease. It is horrible. Your ear won't get rid of the fluid that builds up inside. You get spells that you are real dizzzy and vomit. Sometimes it lasts for hours. Sometimes it comes on without warning. There are other times that you can feel it coming on and can take a pill to ward off the dizziness. My case was so bad that I had to have surgery. They basically peel back the outside of your ear and implant a shunt to get rid of the fluid in your ear. It has been over 2 years and so far so good. They tell me that it will probably have to be done again in 5 years. Do any of you know anyone that has this?

you know im very much familiar with this disease because previously way back my childhood im suspecting that i have it but im wrong all i just got a minor ear problem, do you want me to discuss this disease for you? i got a pretty good background on this disease because im a health allied graduate.....the main reason why it happens is when your "incus" and "malleus" a part of the ear also known as hammer doesn't vibrates because they harden by the serous fluid due to chronic inflammation of the inner ear so what happen is no wave vibration resulting to hearing loss and and poor coordination.... to sum it up the other term is "endolymphatic hydrops" check it out to make sure...... just ask me if you got health related question... ok see you around, until then.... keep safe......

I've never heard of this disease. Sounds like it is awful. * I do know that people sometimes have a hard time getting rid of water in their ears after showers or swimming. Personally, I have to clean out wax and yellow gunk from my ears often.

This is sooo different than water in your ears after swimming! With this disease the fluid builds up inside your ear and does not drain like normal ears do. I wish it was as simple as swimmers ear. I hope that someday they will find something to cure it, rather than just a temporary cure like surgery that will have to be done again and again. Thanks for your response!
