how many of you believe that practice can teach you more than what you can get from only reading.and should there be a balance in practice and reading.

Hi! it's an interesting question but i think there are some things that you just can't learn from a book. I am currently studying nursing at university an my study time is split 50/50 between studing in lectures and books, doing written assignments and doing practical placement in hospital. I find each aspect of it valuable to my learning. There are things that i do in placement that there is no way i could learn by reading a book or being told about it in a lecture, or example communicating and understanding people, as well as more physical things like giving people injections, you just have to do it a few times before you perfect the technique! I don't think you can master any skill or art form without both reading about it and doing it yourself, unless it's something you have a natural talent for like drawing or singing, but even then there are elements that people use reading to help with!
