How can people with the same upbringing turn out so different?

I am 22 and have a brother who is two years older than me. He lives only a couple of streets away from me and we have a very close relationship, but we are so different. We're relatively close in age and were brought up in the ame household with the same people around us, so what has made us so different, we have polar opposite tases in music and have a completely different outlook on relationships and life in general. Does anyone else find this holds true for them and their siblings? Why do people think this happens?

I guess it comes back to the whole nature/nurture debate, whether we are influenced more by the genes that we have etc or whether it is the envirnment we are raised in that shapes who we are.
