I've ask my friends about it, some would turn it off for no particular reasons at all, other said they just don't bother turning it off. How about you?. Do you turn it off?. Why?

I don't turn mine off, I see no reason to ever mess with it at all. I thought the idea was that if something happened then system restore would help you go back to when the computer last worked correctly so you could fix things.

thanks for your response. Some would say that its useless and it doesn't really restore anything especially removing viruses..

I am using xp and i have turned system restore OFF. because it hasn't restored my system successfully even once. why waste 10% of my hard disk for such an useless feature. so i have created a backup of my whole C DRIVE where i have installed windows. i used NERO BACKIT UP tool to make the backup. Its really good and comes handy when something goes wrong.

You have a point. I have a Nero installed in my pc but i never got to use it. I just burn my files using Nero and reformat again. Thanks for the response.

I always keep system restore ON... Its better that we keep it on.. so that we can restore to any previous setting if something goes wrong..... But after some time... system restore starts occupying lots of disk space.. so i turn off system restore and start it again.... With this i keep my system safe and clean.....

system restore really eats up your space but it has a limit to how many restore points it saves but i don't know how many?. Thanks for the comment.

To be honest only now did I know that it can be turn off and for that I am very grateful. System restore is useless anyway if a restore point was not set. This is an excellent tool if manage properly and a totally useless if not use properly.
