giving him a bath

my hammy's having trouble with humidity. he can't sleep bec he keeps on moving around to find a cooler place. so i decided to give him a bath in my toilet sink. i let him swim around in lukewarm water. whenever he gets tired, i let him rest in my finger/s and then swim again. i know when he's done, he crawls back to my hand. i give him a nice massage while i pat him dry. he licks himself up until he's dry enough to eat his treat, chocolate ice cream. then his off to his sleep.

He's sounds cute! Be careful not to let him catch a cold though! Hamsters catch colds very easily. I think your hamster is so tame :) You must be a great pet owner.

Is it really safe for hamsters to be bathed like that? I also want to do that with mine but I'm afraid being bitten.

i am sorry but no. i tried to look for articles regarding this matter and it just kept on saying that it is not advisable to give him a bath. sorry for this.

Haha, it all sounds cute... i had a hamster too but i never gave nor thought of giving him a bath... i knew water harms hamsters,so i didn't give him water to drink either... but yours seems to really enjoy it,and be happy about it so i must say i am glad he has an owner like you :)

yeah and it was fun. he's such a good hamster so i guess he deserves that. by the way, all living things need water so i think your hammy still needs water to drink. pls do it asap.

I'm happy to hear that your hammy's love taking a bath. i have four hamsters right now. I'm thinking of giving them a bath too since they smell not that good anymore, but I read some hamster site that it won't be good for your hamster to give them a bath. I'm not sure with the exact words but it something that will make them shocked, I guess.

the thing is, it is not advisable to give your hammies a bath bec there's a probability that they'll catch pneumonia. since, i took special attention with regards of room and water temp, i took advantage of it. plus i do it, let's say once in a year. hehehe...there are scented wood carvings in petshops. you might wanna try it. and try to clean your hammies' cage 1 to 2 times in a week. have fun!
