I will take fresh fruit like you mentioned and put it in a blender with a pint of yogurt and make what we call a "smoothie". I could drink several of those a day.

I absolutely adore fruit salad. But I have to share it with my kids, so I'm lucky if I get a few bites in edgewise. LOL! I love to make mine with watermelon, grapes, honeydew melon, canteloupe, strawberries, apples, bananas, and white peaches (or regular freestone peaches if I can't get the white ones.) This year, probably in about a month or so, I will have a new fruit to add to my salad...pluots. They are a cross between a plum and an apricot, and they are absolutely yummy. One of the salesmen for the fertilizer company that hubby works for has an orchard with both peaches and pluots, and hubby has been given his orders (by me of course) to bring some of both home.

I, too, love fruits. In fact, I've frequently said that I could happily live on fruit and nuts. I like all the fruits that I've tried, some more than others. I recently bought a papaya but doubt that I'll do that again. I know that I won't pay $5.00 for just one. I'll agree with your listing.

I dont make fruit salad on a regular basis beause I dont always have alot of fruit, but I am going to make a Hawaiian fruti salad this weekend. It sounded really good so I went to the store today and got all the stuff for it. I was in Hawaii last April and I really loved the food at the luau. Fruit salad is very healthy.

The papaya is a tropical fruit. My friends who have been stationed in Hawaii were very familiar with it. I don't know if it grows on a tree or a vine. I forgot to ask. The one I bought weighed right at 5 pounds. That is why it cost so much. The shape of the fruit reminded me of an eggplant, but the color was green which turns yellow when ripe. The inside of the ripe fruit is watermelon red. The texture is somewhat like the watermelon but not juicy. The rind is rather thin for such a large fruit. There is a hollow in the center which contains many bebe (the little round shot used in air rifles) like seeds. I cannot describe the flavor. It was not as sweet as a peach or a melon. I think that it must me an acquired taste. One of my friends loved it and another said she could take it or leave it. The later was my opinion.
