How Big is Your Shoe Wardrobe?

I was just watching Rachael Ray, and she had a woman on her show who said she had about 350 pair of shoes valued at about $30,000. I nearly fainted. My house and my car together didn't cost that much! Now I realize that I have my little quirks. I probably spend more on beads and other craft materials than I do on clothes and shoes, but I do it in hopes of earning some money from selling my beaded jewelry and other crafts. Everybody's priorities are different, and maybe if I had money to burn, I would spend it on clothes and shoes, but I haven't had the opportunity to find out yet. . .but $30,000 for shoes? That still blows my mind.

*LOL* Do you really think if you could afford it you would go shopping for clothes and shoes? I have gotten to where I hate shopping but, every spring when the sandals come out, I will buy one, maybe two pair. I probably have about 10 pairs of sandals, a couple of pairs of dress shoes and a pair of sneakers. However, I don't think the money I have spent on shoes in the past 30 years or so even comes close to $30,000. I don't think the cars I have owned come to that. Hmmmm, I wonder where this woman lives, and, what is her shoe size? I don't mind hand me downs!*L*

Well if I could afford to spend that much money, I could be one of those folks who have everything brought to me and I wouldn't HAVE to go shopping. I'd probably have to pay some one to pick my clothes out so my shoes wouldn't clash with my outfit.

OH! When I get rich you can be that person that "dresses me". Or by the time I get rich you can give me a reference to YOUR shopper/dresser.

Oh, I don't know. If you kept them long enough they'd come back in style. But I wonder if she ever wears a pair of shoes twice.

This is true, mandykaren. I was trying to update my mom's wardrobe. I told her to get rid of a pair of shoes that she had had forever. A few years later, I was visiting her. She noticed that I had a pair of shoes like the ones I had made her get rid of. She looked and me and said, " I TOLD you those would be back in style!" I have not tried to update her wardrobe since then.

I have a total of 7 pairs of shoes in my closet. Three pairs are sneakers and the other four are dress shoes. I think it is ridiculous how many shoes people buy and what is even worse is that they do not even wear them. They spend all that money yet do not wear the shoes. No way in the world that I would spend 30,000 dollars on shoes. This woman must have more money than she knows what to do with. If she wants to blow her money, she can give me money. :-)

I do like shoes, I have to admit. I have about 25 pairs of shows and sandles. I don't spend a lot of money on them though, many of the dress shoes I've had for quite some time. And many of the sneakers are cheaper ones, since I ruin them so quickly.

Well I'm rootin' for you, but when you decide you don't like a pair anymore, be sure to find a good home for them.

I am not going to lie. I love shopping and I love shoes. But being a college student, I dont have money to go blowing $30,000 worth on just shoes lol. I wish I had that kind of money, and if I did, as much as I love shopping, it wouldn't go towards that. Hey a lot of people are privileged and I cant knock them for what they decide to do with their money because its theirs. When I do shop for shoes, I usually try to look for bargains and so forth. That way I dont feel bad after I buy them. =)

Hang in there. When you're out of college you'll be glad you learned to look for bargains, and if you don't have to any longer then yea for you! But there's a difference in loving to shop and being ridiculous about spending.

I don't really see myself doing this with shoes - but I have hundreds of books in my apartment. SO yeah, I can see how it could start out small and grow out of control.

There is no way on this earth that i would waste that kind of money on shoes, especially the way things are going in this country right now. I hope when she gets into a jam and needs that money she can sell those shoes and at least get some of it back.

Yeah! I agree with you, but I guess to each his own. Maybe I'm jealous because she can spend that much on shoes and I think twice about every purchase I make.

Really? Shoes that many and expensive. She must be rich to afford such kind of luxuries. I only had one shoes for work. I wear it everyday. I had no other shoes. If this shoes of mine will surrender of too much use by me. That's the time i will buy a new one. But i would never spent that much money on shoes. There are more important things to buy like foods, basic necessities and bills to pay.

woman with lots of shoes - photo with lots of shoes around her
Hi my friend I am not really a shoe freak. I have 3 pairs of sandals and two pairs of tennis shoes and that's about it. Oh and a pair of slippers. I've heard of those types of women that have tons of shoes in many closets and I just can't see it. I know a spend alot on my dogs and geckos but still I don't spend that much. I'm not one for alot of clothes either. As long as I have something that my butt doesn't stick out in like a hole, I'm fine. Have a nice night, Char

See I guess its odd, but I just don't have a thing about shoes. Never have. I currently own one pair of tennis shoes and two pairs of crocs. Thats it. And I've been wearing these three pairs for three years now. Haven't bought anything new. Shoes are just not something that interests me. Part of that could be because I have a very hard time finding shoes that fit me since I wear a 7WW. Yup, got wide feet. Plus being a diabetic, and having had an injury that needed surgery, shoes have to fit me just so to be comfortable.

In my closet there might be 10 pairs of shoes. I keep some of them for "dress" occasions. One pair I hang on to simply because I bought them when I was seeing a man almost a foot taller than me and they are very comfortable high heels. My biggest collectible item is music. I have albums, 45's, 8 tracks, cassettes, Cd's and we have a reel-to reel in our home.

My shoe wardrobe is pretty mediocre. I wish that I had more boots or cosplay shoes in my collection. I try to get everything when it is on sale or clearance.

I have about 20 pair of shoes and sandals. My hubby is always spouting off on how many I have accumulated. I do wear most every pair of the shoes. But, I have come to realize that I need to weed out those I don't wear and donate the to the Goodwill store. Personally I can't believe that anyone could ever wear 350 pair of shoes. I'll bet that a few have only been worn once. Why would anyone waste good money. Even in the business world you only need a few pair of shoes to accomodate your wardrobe.

I agree entirely. There are so many ways to "mix and match" that you don't really ever need to have a pair of shoes to go with EVERY outfit, and still look very professional, or dressed up. Sounds like this lady had several pair for each outfit!

That's a lot of money to spend on shoes in anyones book. You can only wear one pair of shoes at a time so why would anyone want to have that many shoes. The amount of money spent on all those shoes blows my mind. I have three pair of shoes and I think that is too many. Even if I had money to burn I would have better uses for it than spending it on so many shoes. That to me sounds like a person who has more money than she knows what to do with. I say send it out to some of us folks. We would know how to put it to good use.

I own two pairs of shoes currently. Each was bought for $10 a piece. So I guess my shoe wardrobe is worth about $5 (since they are "used" at this point, lol.) $30,000 in shoes is disgusting to me. There is no need for that kind of excess.

Wow, that is a lot of money for shoes. But she's probably rich and has a lot of money, so why not spend money on shoes and things you like? I have a lot of clothes and shoes myself. I love wearing clothes and new shoes. Dressing up has always made me feel pretty and I loved dressing up since I was a little girl. Now, that I have grown up, and I am older I still love dressing up and wearing new clothes that I have bought. Getting ready is half the fun of going somewhere! I love my clothes and shoes and although I will never spend $30, 000 on shoes or even clothes, I will always buy a lot of clothes, even if they come at a cheaper price.
