There is no perfect antivirus because there is a perfect virus. there is no such thing as ultimate defense... what can i recommend you is prevention. "prevention is better than cure"

nicely said.. "there is no perfect antivirus because there is no perfect virus".. cool.. thanks for the response.. actually, i dont like the idea of prevention.. well, to be honest, it gives me excitement when my antivirus founds so many viruses, then deletes them all at once.. hehehe.. =)

I actually have 3 AV one for each boot. All of the them are freeware, AVG8.0, Avast4.8 and BitDifender10. With this 3 AV I could check if one one is not good since the other could counter check the system on their next boot up. So far the three did not have a disagreement with their malware detection. My main boot has avast on it but my favorite is AVG8.0, simply because it offers more feature than the other two.

If you can spare a few bucks for an AV, I'd recommend NOD32. It's very lightweight without compromising it's reliability. However, if you wouldn't want to pay for protection, use Avast or Avira. They're pretty good. For more information, look up AVcomparatives. They give the best reviews of AVs.

I use a free antivirus. It's AVG free version 8. It comes with an anti-spyware, anti-virus, Email scanner, Link Scanner, Resident Shield and it scans silently. It can scan while I am using other applications. My laptop doesn't get stuck. It scans thorougly because I have set it up to scan miticulously. I did use Norton and Antivir in the past. My computer gets stuck when they are scanning. There's also this antivirus called NOD that scans without having the PC to get stucked but I it's only been a while that I've used this so I can't say if it's good or bad. All I know that it works silently.
