Child Beauty Pageants: do you think their good for children or bad for children?

I believe they are good because its an experience that not all kids get to have. The only way i would consider it bad would be if a parents pushes it on a child that doesnt really want to do it. If the child enjoys doing it and is having a good time weather they win or not then i believe its a good thing to do. When they are young i dont think they have to much knowledge on self confidence. maybe in teenage years is when it sets in more. I will be putting my daughter in the Chalo Nitka pageant next year in our town.

I think it´s a shame and an abuse. What I don´t understand is that in the US a social worker and cops take children to a foster home if they spank them on the butt once in a while if they missbehave and don´t do anything about these kind of parents that won´t let their children lead a normal child´s life. They are obviously taking the childhood out of their kids and turning them into a sort of machines or living dolls. There is an extra sadness. They let the children believe that they will all be awesome movie stars. But the children are cute but not always beautiful and you can see the parents to say that the beauty will not be inherited from them. So I´m afraid that what´s left for them (parents and children) is frustration, while noone does anything to prevent this legal child abuse. Children are supposed to study and play. At least at the less developped country where I come from.
