Do you tag your activities?

I have seen that with every activity we perform, a screen for tag appears. How important it is to tag our activities? I am new and don't understand what to tag. Still I tag the important words in the discussion. Is it necessary to tag or I shall prefer to skip? What differeces does it make to our discussions if we tag them?

It is true that tag helps people to find what we are writing. But it is not always that tags helps finding people. Sometimes what a person tags in his/her writing may not relate to the writings. Anyway, I get confused while tagging my discussions and other activities and so avoid some of the times to tag those things which confuses me much.
