what is the typical ghost in your place?

The most common one talked about and "seen" by people in Singapore is a ghost of lady in a white dress and with long black hair covering the face. They are spotted almost everywhere ranging from old neighbourhood estates build on former graveyards to army camps. I wonder if this is real, why are there various sightings around my country and each bear the same description? Could it be that there is more than one and are like related to each other forming a clan of ladies-in-ghost or something?
