If you differentiate between really close friends and well wishers and acquaintances, then I think that the number of friends in the true sense of the word friend will be limited. Whether she/he should or not is a matter of personal choice. It is always better to have as many well wishers in life as possible.

I don't believe you can have to many friends. Unless you have friends that are not interested in what you are interested in. For example if your interested in prospering you don't want friends who have a poverish thinking patterns. Now this can cause major problems.
