What do you do while you're cooking?

I like to listen music when I am in the kitchen or I am usually on the computer if I don't need to give the food my undivided attention. I usually need to give food my undivided attention when I am in a mad rush to finish all my dishes before lunch time comes up on me and I started cooking late for one reason or another. Luckily for me, being in a mad rush does not affect the taste or quality of my food but I love to listen music or be on the computer while I stuff cooking in the kitchen.

When I'm cooking, I go on my computer, and play some good loud music. I do it when i am cleaning too.

Every once in a while I'll talk on the phone at the same time. If it's something that can just cook awhile without me watching I'll get on the computer. Otherwise I don't really do anything but cook.

Multitaking burned me, so I'm going to try to pay closer attention while I cook. I was washing the floor and cooking at the same time. The distraction caused me to lift the lid from a pot in a way I know should not be done. Now I'm on antibiotics for two seriously burned fingers, which became infected. I should have a chalkboard to write a thousand times: I will pay attention while cooking!

I have had a great deal of kitchen mishaps as you stated. I have let water boil out, burnt many pots, burnt many meals, left cakes in the over too long. I used to do all the stuff you mentioned. Now I try to just concentrate on the cooking thing! If I get involved in a phone call or something on the computer I'm headed for another of my "kitchen disasters" lol.

normal im on the phone :) but if not i normally pay really close attention to the food im cooking :)
