My 14 month old baby still loves his babies bottle and compared to others his age he won't hold it to feed himself or move on to using a beaker.
When should a baby move on to a beaker?
How did you do this without upsetting your baby?
Thanks

When my daughter started chewing off the nipples of the bottles was when she stopped getting the bottle. If your baby doesn't want to hold the bottle it may be an indication that baby is not hungry.
I would just put away all the baby bottles and give the baby the beaker. Also if baby is already taking solids baby doesn't need to be on the bottle.

It is recommended that you stop using the bottle at 12 months of age. The use of a bottle is supposed to cause dental problems, ear infections, and slow down speech development. After saying all of that, my son is 15 months old and I can't bear to take his baba away.

Don't worry if he still wants the comfort of being fed from his bottle. There is no rule about how old each child should be to do anything, all are different. Try giving him a beaker at lunch time as this seems to be the time most children will accept a slight change. If he gets upset give him his bottle and try again after a couple of weeks. I know it's hard but try not to compare him to others of his age, he may be further ahead than some and behind others, he may also be better at some things than others. Let him be a baby as they grow up too fast anyway.

i think you should relax and let him be for a while. my daughter was just like that with the bottle. i bought a few fun looking beakers and let her choose which one she wanted. it worked like a charm.

I had to take my daughter off the bottle
when she started refusing to eat big people food.
She has always been a picky eater, but at some point
she wanted regular cow's milk in the bottle with no
formula.
So basically no nutrition other than what was in the bottle.
And then she started turning down regular meals.
At first she ate big masses of food like tacos, mac and cheese,
french fries, lots of fruit and other healthy things.
Just everything in the house!
And she was about two years old at the time.
But I noticed that she started turning food away when
she switched to cow's milk.
She was getting full on milk and wanting nothing else.
For her health's sake, I had to cut off the bottle.
As for a 14 month old, they can really be more like babies.
It's easy to try to grow them up quick.
But, do what you feel is right for your baby.
Try out a variety of things to see what works best.
By beaker, I think you're talking about a sippy cup.
Mine never took to those. Instead, she went right to
drinking out of a small plastic kid's cup.
By 14 months, most babies have already switched to
soft table foods; cut up fruits; macaroni's; noodles, etc.
Many can feed themselves.
If you have real concerns that he's not gaining
weight please talk to his pediatrician.
Here's a very informative article that might help.

Best of luck with your little one.

Sometimes we have no choice but to upset our babies when it comes to weening them off of the bottle. My kids were both off the bottle during the day time by the time they were a year old and then at night time when they were about 18 months old. All babies are different so I don't think there is a right age for it. Your baby will tell you when it is time, unless you don't push it. Start off slowly and introduce him to the beaker and in time he will like using it.
As this discussion is 3 months old, is your baby off of the bottle now? Was it hard to ween him or have you let him still use his bottle?

I disagree with if a baby is on solids they shouldnt be on a bottle of course they should you cant just take something away from them just because they start solids!
I happily let my girls wean theirselves with my eldest that was at 8 months my youngest not until she turned two, she wasnt having it outside or anything just morning and evening was a comfort to her and she was happy to let the bottle go when it felt right to her so happy people all round

I have a friend who happens to be the same age as my daughter...going to 3.Would you believe both are still drinking milk by baby bottles?Although my friends daughter was i think or maybe a bit lazy to hold her bottle just as your baby maximax8.During my daughters younger years she consumes 7 to 8 bottles of milk in one day.Right now my daughter eats well and drinks her juices or even strawberry flavored milk in glass. And only drinks her milk in baby bottle if she goes to sleep.I would say kids will wean to using baby bottles in time.Don't pressure your kid or yourself it will come.

My son is already 2 1/2 yr old but he's still on a bottle. He's eating solids already and he really eats a lot. He drinks water and juices in a glass but when it comes to drinking milk, he prefer to use a bottle. Same with you maximax8, i don't have any idea as to when should I stop him in using bottle. I am not yet bothered coz he already knows how to use glass. I think, it will come naturally. I mean, babies will stop themselves in using bottles when the right time comes and when they get tired of holding their bottles, LOL!
Have a good day!
