Well, it does depend on where you're moving. The US is not one country where everyone is alike. Far from it, actually. Each region, sometimes each state or county or city has its own "flavor" and way of doing things. What might be perfectly normal in Ohio might be really weird in Texas. I would suggest doing some online research about the particular area where you're going to live. Then, I'd check with yahoo groups to see if there is a group of folks from there online that might be willing to offer local advice. I'd read the newspapers from the area where you're going to live to learn about what's happening locally. In some places, they care more about local news than national or international news.

For instance...there are still a few places where smoking is okay in restaurants. But that's not going to be the case for long. Even for someone who lives in the states, traveling from one to another can be weird. I took a road trip once and was quite surprised to find a convenience store on the highway where one had to pass through a metal detector just to use the public restrooms.

well it really depends on where you are moving to. like in dallas texas no you wouldnt want to hang out your wash. in arkansas though in any of the cities you can hang out wash everyone does. smoking in some plaes is normal arkansas alot of people smoke you can still smoke in restuarants too. texas you cant. what part are you thinking of moving too and that would help with ideas of dos and donts. i mean where i live chickens, rabbits, etc or normal yard pets for food but new york, dallas, etc you wouldnt want to have them as pets. i hang my wash out, i smoke where i want, hubby doesnt wear a shirt when out in the yard, shoot most of the times i dont wear shoes when i run to the store. now if i still lived in dallas i wouldnt do any of that.

It depends on where you go. In some places, smoking is still acceptable. But, before lighting up, look around and see if there are others smoking to be sure, or ask someone around you. If you live in a house with a yard, you can hang your laundry. If anyone should complain, tell them you are helping the environment by saving gas and electricity The best piece of advice I can give you is to just be yourself. There are so many peoples here in the U.S. that most folks know that not everyone is the same and will leave you in peace . Unless of course you are using the streets or sidewalks as a toilet, that might upset them
