All of my jobs, 3 in total, writing for 2 disability websites and producing my own poetry zines. I also could write for a 3rd website (if I could think of things to write about for them). All my pocket money comes from writing, as well- here and Blogit. I might also get a real job writing the Multicultural Independent Living Center of Boston.
Writers get paid so badly. I don't know how anyone makes a living at this. Two paychecks, in total $350 are late.

In my opinion, if I get anything from my writing, then I am happy. Writing is more than a possible source of income for me. It is a way for me to express myself and to let my creative juices flow. I would love to receive money for the stuff I write and will be willing to be employed for it. :D Good luck with the job at the Multicultural Independent Living Center.

I totally agree with you. Writing is more than a way to make money for me. In fact it's what keeps me sane. I just hope that I can find enough money doing it so I won't have to do anything that I think is stupid.

Writing is a form of employment. If you are writing and making money from it, then you are employed. Getting money for writing is a great thing.

I have had the odd thing printed but never got paid for them. One of the things that I have noticed in the UK press is the relatively large numbers of new writers with "old" names. I.e. nepotism is rife! This might be sour grapes and I have no problem in principle to helping my children along, but it does make the industry that much harder to enter. Of course one of the issues is that we all think that we can write! I now do it for the heck of it with no expectation of reward save the appreciative comments of my friends and readers. But if the literary equivalent of a talent scout just happened to pass by.......... We can dream!
