This year the University of the Philippines celebrated its 100th anniversary. It is quite an achievement for a university to reach that far and still being excellent in the field of study and research. But previous enrollment record show that the number of student enrolling in the university is declining. Has UP lost its touch? Is it still the premier university of the the Philippines?

DEFINITELY it still is the premier University in the Philippines. The problem with low enrollment record is that sadly because of endless budget cuts.UP is forced to increase its tuition fee. However even with fewer students enrolling at UP it still hasn't lost its touch because it takes more than a low enrollment record to knock down our school with one hundred years of living not just existing

definitely, yes. by what standards? go see which school regularly tops most of the board and professional exams.. the most CHED centers of excellence.. the largest number of research publications and citations.. the largest pool of experts in their respective fields.. etc.. just because enrolment's been dropping, it doesn't have a bearing on UP's performance as an educational institution.. there are other factors that might account for this such as the TOFI, in particular.. and if the public don't perceive UP as the premier university, then just look for the facts and the statistics.. check out the websites of CHED and the PRC, or the universities and see for yourself...
