Are you a big city type of person or do you like the quiet country life? I am from Indianapolis. Born and raised, but 7 years ago I moved to small town in georgia. I never liked growing up in the city. All of the noise, the traffic, and congestion. I love this small town. It's not Mayberry small, it's small. The quiet country like is for me. I like visit big cities, but i love coming home to my quiet country life. So what do you like. the big city or country living?

You sound like my twin! I lived in Maryland, near Washington, D.C., for over 30 years but moved to a small town in south Florida about four years ago. This town is not Mayberry small...it's smaller! One red light, one grocery store, one bar...but I love it here. We actually live outside of town in a quiet community with family next door on both sides and more family on the next block, which is separated from our block by the canal in our back yards. I love sitting on the front porch and waving at the (few) cars and trucks that pass by...because they're waving at me. I love listening to the frogs or the owls at night and looking out at the canal or the sugar cane fields that I can see from my deck. Sometimes we drive to one of the big cities nearby but I hate dealing with traffic anymore.

I think I would prefer the country life. I live in the city now, but I think the air quality is better out in the country and I could have more space and privacy. I also love how smaller towns have more mom and pop shops that have really friendly owners that you can get to know over the years. I think that the city life is probably better for people who have hotshot jobs there or love to socialize on a daily basis. I think my children would like the country better too!

One of these days I am going to hit the big time and I am going to move out of the city to the boondocks and have land glorious land and have a proper garden, and build a canning/craft house and get a walk in kiln built for me too. That is my deam atleast.

I have lived in noisy NYC for 50 years and never lived in the country. I don't know how that life is. I went to visit an Aunt once who lived in semi-country, is this what you call a place in between the city and country? Well when I went to bed it was so quite I could not sleep there was not a single sound, the quietness drove me crazy, no sirens, no alarms, no horns blowing so I had to asked her if she had one of those clocks that you wind up and can hear the ticking and she had one otherwise I would have never gotten to sleep.

well, i guess you are most definetly a city boy and there is nothing wrong with that. thanks for your comment. the part about needing a clock to sleep was pretty funny. i had the same problem when i first moved to a quiet place.

Our place right now is neither too big a city nor too small....it's just the right place for us...it's relatively peaceful, less pollutions, no traffic, and it's a university town, having the most number of universities...it's for me a good place to raise a family and to retire...I still prefer the quiet country as against the highly urbanized place such as Manila....

When I was young I like city life. I enjoyed going out with friends for dinner, to movies, to parties, etc. There was so much fun renting a room and living together with other housemates. But now I am getting old and I want to live peacefully in a country life quietly with my husband. I want to have a small house where I can farm and breed poultry...I hope I have enough money to buy a peace of land in the countryside and fulfil my dreams.

If I had to choose between the two, I would choose the big city. However, there is a middle option that you are missing, you can live in a small city such as Burlington Vermont which I visited recently. It seems like an ideal place for me to hang my hat. It's just like a big small town. There are open air markets and lots of local restaurants to go to. It has very much its own personality and is not the land of big corporate chains. For all its small town charm however it has some things I would like in the place I move to next like 24 hour wheelchair accessible cabs and an airport to grant me access to the rest of the world.

I am right in the middle. I like the suburbs. Busy enough that you don';t know Everybody, but not as huge as the big city. I have lived in a suburb of Washington D.C. most of my life. So I was close enough to a "big" city and yet my town wasn't as small as Mayberry. So I have the quiet of the country, at times . And the excitement of a "big" city.

The country life is for me htou I would love to see a big big city. I was raised a country farm girl and had the normal, pigs, horses, chickens and such. I wish we lived further in the country now but we dont. We are in a small town kinda on the outskirts so I guess it will do. We went thru Buffalo NY and I tell you I would hate living that close to other people. The part that we saw I swear the houses were no more then 6 feet apart. YUCK!

Not country really, but I'm definatly a small town girl. I'm from a tiny town surrounded by rivers, mountains and the ocean and I absolutely feel in place here. I moved to Edmonton when I was 19 and I lasted only 4 months there. It was too big, too noisy, and just way too many people. I like to visit the big cities but I could never survive in one.

i was raised in a very small town in southwestern PA. when i was newly married, we moved to pittsburgh PA. from there, we moved to san francisco, CA. wow! talk about cultural shock. every thing was different ! the food, the activities, the sense of humor, the sense of values, etc. i lived there 15 years and returned home when i got divorced. at that time i had a small child and felt a small town environment was safer. now my friend has a second home in the mountains. it is so quiet. i can feel all the stress leaving my body and my mind when i am there. i love having the choices a big city can offer you, but i so enjoy my quiet. sitting on the deck, drinking a cup of coffee and watching the wild life around me. it doesn't get any better, for me, than this. the only thing i truly hate about a small town is gossip. EVERYBODY knows everything you do !

I love big city life..!! Trust me you may find the country life quite, peaceful, beautiful nature and many things more.... but when it comes to the day to day life its not at all convenient!! Well that's what I have experienced in my country. I am from India. And country life here ... I should not that say " it sucks" .. but its very inconvenient... You don't get any good and easy transportation system there. Its very hard unless and until you have your own vehicle!!! You kind of get isolated.. you can't move around just like that. You want to go to market go and get your bike for that first... You don't have any pizza corners around there.Even Just for a sip of cold drink you'll have to commute a very long distance!! Now come to nature.. Yes it IS beautiful out there greenery, mountains and sea...every thing..!! I love gazing at the nature ..but how much.. I always get bored right after 3-4 hours .. then what??? You have to live there and you are just bored in 4 hours!!!!??? (here I am talking about my grandpa's place) there we don't have any TV no internet..not even a computer.. no friends.. mobile is unreachable!!!! I mean I was suffocated!!!! I love big city life. As I don't have to depend on any one here.. I want to go some where I can take the metro.. or bus or any easy cab.. Market is just couple of steps away from home. Lots of friends most of the important thing I have INTERNET here!!! it feels like heaven.. I would go for a country life in my vacations .. but for a busy working life . big cities are the best!!! :)

Hello Indianapolis, I am from Marion, Ind. untill 3 years ago I lived around New Orleans, now if you want to talk noise, that is the place for it. Since the storm in 2005 we have been relocated to a small town in Ohio where my children are. The difference is unreal. At first I kept looking out the window wondering what was going on as it was so quiet. The police ride bikes, and the most I have heard about crime is someone who is speeding or maybe a small breakin, but no murders or raping if you are out on the street at night. Ther is such a difference and I never want to go back to such a rat race again. I like peace and quiet, maybe it just old age, but I perfer not out in the country , but smaller towns where the traffic is not so bad and no big city activity. Oh right up the road about 3 miles is all that i could ask for if I want excitement, but here it is layed back.

I'm definately a small town girl mommy.... I was born in a small town but as soon as I was old enough and able, I went to the 'big city'. I've lived in several big cities in my time. While they were interesting and fun, (at the time), I gave it all up for the small town, where I live now. It's the same small town I grew up in. If I had my druthers, I would live on a farm, out in the middle of nowhere, far away from anything and anybody. The quiet country life is far more preferred than living in any city. There, you can raise animals, raise a garden, and do just about whatever your heart desires without prying eyes.....or nosy neighbors.

I think that it is combination of both. When I was a little younger, I am now forty, I liked the city life. I have moved to different places in my life that were in the city and also country type living. Both types have their merits. Big cities have their sense of excitement and the country life can provide serenity and a lot of beautiful surroundings.
