Shrink a jumper?

I've just bought a new jumper that is too wide (it looks like a dress on me) and fairly long. Is there any way I can shrink it without loosing the colour/shape of the garment? thanks.

I really don't know how to shrink a jumper in this way but years ago I used to sit in a hot bath with shrink to fit jeans on LOL. I don't know whther this is a possibility with the jumper, I personally would take it back and ge a smaller size myself rather than risk ruining it, but someone else on here I am sure will have some good tips for you. Good luck. Ellie :D

Unless you know how to sew or someone that does i have not any other suggestions except to wash it in cold water to avoid loosing its color, and dry it in the dryer...Cna you return it? if so thats what i would do..
