Reading and looking through discussions on this site, it appears to be truly international. I am very interested to know where you are from and what language you speak? Mine are English (first language), German (my mothers first language) and Spanish (coz I've lived here for 8 years). What are yours and why?

I tried learning french using a tape, but never got far. I used to know Kannada when i was younger, but now i cant remember a word of it expect for common phases. I understand people who abla in italy's language a bit as well.

Wow cambiste, thats an amazing array of languages, they all seem to be eastern languages, do you live in the east or do you just have a bent for this type of language? Do you use your languages to earn a living? Are you going to study other languages when you have done with Japenese? Im very impressed!

I am from Philippines...Yeah, you are right, most of the Filipinos speak two languages (Filipino and English)...Some still speak Spanish.. but I don't know how.. :-) English is our secondary language...It is part of our Curriculum...We study the language starting Elementary until College.

Is Filipino your first language, and how come you also have English? Are you from the Phillipines. I know their two languages are filipino and English, is spanish still spoken there? It used to be the first language until the 1970's, is that right?

Never mind SheliaLee, if you havent found the need to speak another language, then why would you have learned one? If you are an ardent surfer then almost everything on the internet is in English anyway. It seems people who's first language is something other than English are forced to learn it if they want to expand their internet experience.
