I'm on a cooking roll at the moment. So please bear with me. One of the things that I love about this site is the sheer diversity of the membership. But we all have one thing in common besides myLot. We have to eat. I rather fancy the idea of spending a year visiting myLot friends and being their kitchen companion. Perhaps spending a week with each of you in your kitchen. Assume that I can boil an egg and spread butter on bread. But beyond that I have to learn. So, what personal favourites will you teach me and what meal will I prepare for you at the end before I leave and inflict myself on the next person where I'll start all over again with something new.

Last nights fish dish comes to mind.........can't think why. lol Anyway, Whitefish slow fried in lemon butter under cover so the steam poached it. Just before taking it out I squeezed fresh lemon juice all over it and spread fresh picked dill over the top of the fish. It came out crispy on the bottom and tender and juicy everywhere else. Sound familiar? ROFL Served with avacado salad (an art in itself!) and boiled tiny new potatoes topped with fresh grated parmesan and chopped parsley, dinner was a feast. I LOVE this fish dish! ROFL

Consider yourself taught then mr.fish! LOL Hey Boo, good to see you. This meal is so easy and so quick. You can use frozen fish - it's the best really because it keeps the pan 'wet'. Just slant the lid on the fryer near the end to let the juices crystalize and crisp the bottom of the fish and voila! Yummy in your tummy! LOL

apple crumble - this is a picture of an apple crumble, not one made by me though
I'm not too good at 'saying' teaching, I'm better at 'showing' teaching, but I'll try, so here goes:(I have no idea of weights or anything like that either) BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING:You will need, several slices of bread (even slightly stale bread will do, but not mouldy bread) a handful or so of raisins or random mixed, dried fruit about half a pint of milk sugar (it's up to you how much sugar you use, it depends on how sweet a tooth you've got, I think I use 8oz though) 1 thing to cook it in, like maybe a pirex dish or a roasting pan Way to make it, cut the bread into strips (whatever size you fancy will do) place bread into whatever cooking container you're using mix the milk and sugar together pour milk and sugar over bread (as evenly as you can) pour fruit over the whole thing (as evenly as you can too) Cook in an oven until you smell that it's done (I think it's about 30-45minutes on gas mark 7). Once it's cooked take it out, let it cool if you like, or eat it hot (be careful as it will burn your mouth, so blow it first), serve with cream/ice-cream/custard or any other thing like that of your choice. (Maybe there should be an egg in there somewhere, I can't remember) FRUIT CRUMBLE:You will need, fruit of some description, I suggest apples, but you can use almost any hard fruit (don't use strawberries, that doesn't work well at all). 6oz sugar 4oz butter or margarine (I use stork, it's the best I've found for baking with) 4oz flour (preferably self-raising, but plain will work too) 1 dish or something to cook in Way to make it, cut the apples into smallish chunks, not too big, but not too small place the apples into the dish, make sure they're spaced as evenly apart as you can get them pour 3oz (of the 6oz) of sugar over the apples rub the butter and flour together, until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs, don't over rub as you'll turn it into normal pastry and you don't want that. once you've done the crumble mix, pour the remaining sugar into the crumble mix, stir it gently round, making sure it retains its breadcrumb consistancy. pour the crumble over the apples, making sure it's even pat down the edges of the crumble, just to make sure it's sealed place it in the oven on gas mark 5 for 30-40 minutes when it's cooked, take it out and eat it straight away, or leave it and eat it cold, I prefer to have custard with my crumble, but you could have ice-cream, cream or whatever you choose. SPAMOODLES:(these are (c)MrPanda) (you can make them though, we'll let you) You will need, 1-3 packets of instant noodles (actually, it depends on how many you're feeding, how many packets you need) a few bits of spam (diced) hot water how to make, make the noodles up, as per the instructions on the back of the packet (different noodles have different instructions) once the noodles have been cooked, place them into a pan put the spam into the pan with the noodles cook on the hob until you think they're cooked enough (5 minutes is normally enough) if you like, you could add some herbs or spices or basically whatever you've got to hand once it's all cooked, drain the water from the noodles, put it all on a plate or in a bowl and serve with lettuce or whatever else you fancy with it.

You wouldn't be let loose in my kitchen. If you're good at boiled eggs I might make an exception though, I can't cook those the way I like them. The only thing I could be bothered to teach you to cook would be a chocolate and fruit tea bread because it's easy and doesn't make much mess to cook. I would show you how to make Cornish pasties but it takes too long and makes too much washing up.

Well I'd probably start with some simple things first. One would be beef stew, its so easy to make in the crock pot. Then some homemade bisquits to go with it. Then maybe my cavatelli and garlic bread - both of those are pretty simple too.

Hi P1kef1sh, I've just started cooking about 2 months ago - so well, I've got this very simple dish that you can try. It's baked chicken - marinate chicken drumsticks / pieces with black pepper sauce and ginger paste. Leave to stand for about an hour, and bake it in the oven at 250degrees C for about 25 mins. It's quick, simple and we like it very much (at least my husband does!) Maybe you can come over to my kitchen, and I'll make this dish for you to try!

Well, I would have to teach you all my favorites..Homemade spaghetti sauce made with sundried tomatoes and sweet basil with a hint of garlic. Spread over spaghetti noodles and sprinkled with grated parmesan cheese. Or Baked Mostaccoli, pizza, chili, burritos, lasagna, and a few others. My dishes are easy to learn and make. Nothing to complicated and I am easy to please..I would have you make Baked Mostaccoli because it is a favorite of everyone. I think you should have a journel of your visits and then make a cookbook and publish it with little bits and pieces of the journel in it so people will get a small look into the lives of the people who taught you how to cook the meals...

Baked Mostaccioli - This is a amazingly delicious dish that everyone would love it is easy and simple and has basic ingredients. It is a kid favorite also. If you like lasagna or spaghetti this will soon be family favorite also.
Here is a simple recipe for Baked Mostaccioli that I found it uses a jar of sphagetti sauce though. I am sure it will be good but not as good as homemade meat sauce wih sundried tomatoes and sweet basil and garlic. INGREDIENTS FOR: BAKED MOSTACCIOLI;1 pound ground beef 4 cups mostaccioli, cooked, drained 1 (30 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce (PREFERABLY SUNDRIED TOMATOES AND SWEET BASIL) 3/4 cup KRAFT 100% Grated Romano Cheese, divided 1 (8 ounce) package KRAFT Shredded Mozzarella Cheese DIRECTIONS Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Stir in mostaccioli, spaghetti sauce and 1/2 cup of the Romano cheese. Spoon into 13x9-inch baking dish. Top with mozzarella cheese and remaining 1/4 cup Romano cheese. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes. This is a amazingly delicious dish that everyone would love it is easy and simple and has basic ingredients. It is a kid favorite also. If you like lasagna or spaghetti this will soon be family favorite also.

indian food - food receipe
im from Asia and people here mostly opt for rice but i know you people love bread, tomatoes, leafy foods more than rice so i cant just tell you our Indian food receipes.Any ways if your intrested jus try this tiffen cook the rice and cut carrot, beans, cabbage, raddish . take the pan take add some oil to it and add these veggies and cook for 4 mins ( if needed add onion too ) then add some salt and pepper ( add salt according to your taste and pepper for spice, the more you add pepper the more taste will be added) then add the cooked rice mix the rice along with the veggies for 3 mins, serve it with tomato ketchup or kitchdi kitchdi - cut onions ( 1 or 2 ), cut carrot ( 1/4), cut green chilli ( 1/2 ),add curd ( till all these ingredients get mixed in it ) . You can use noodles instead of rice too. Will you try this receipe? If you have tried just write to me about how it tasted [em]happy[\em]

Meatloaf is a good thing to cook and it is fairly easy. My recipe for meatloaf is simple. Take a pound and a half of ground meat, put a egg in it, a little bit of milk, some ketchup and Liptons dry onion soup mix. If you choose to add a few other things like bacon pieces or chopped up muchrooms. The oven should be heated before mixing up the mixture to give it a chance to heat up. Then squish all the ingredients together and form a shape of a loaf and stick it in the oven. The oven should be at 350 degrees. Cook for 1 to 1 and a half hours. Comes out nice and moist. To me this is a simple and quick way to fix a meat loaf. My husband loves it and it is very moist.

I'll teach you how to make a fantastic caramel appletini, then a chopped salad with roasted walnuts and blue cheese crumbles topped with olive oil vinaigrette, grilled salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, oven baked shrimp scampi, and steamed broccoli with parmesan and pepper. Well we have alot of different enjoyable dishes here in Jamaica. We have rice and peas with Chicken. Maybe you are use to this one so I will teach you our national dish. Ackee and Saltfish. Two dozen Ackee. Take out the seed and the inside. Rinse and put to boil. Saltfish. You boil it. After boiling, you scale and pick it up. Chopped escallion. onion, pepper. After the Ackee is cook, then you throw off the water. You used your sauce pan and heat it. Put in some oil, when this is heated you put your chopped seasons with some black pepper and then you also heat these. Afterwhich you put in the Ackee and Saltfish and stirred. After about 10 minutes you take it off. This can be served with fry dumplins, roast breadfruit or eat with rice and peas. I hope you will enjoy your stay here in my kitchen.

Yes you can get the Ackee in one of those stores. They will probable sell you the one in the can that is already cook so all you will need to do is the rest of the things in the recipe . You will have to throw off the water that is in the tin and just do the rest. Ackee is a yellow fruit and is quite enjoyable. I hope you will be able to treat yourself with a meal sometime.

I am in the sad predicament of being married to a man who eats only meat and potato. Either steak and mashed potato, steak and chips, roast meat with roast potatoes ... it's boring! My son and I cook up stirfries and other more interesting fare, but my husband will not eat onion, mushroom, tomato, capsicum, rice, pasta, garlic, chilli, curry ... if you get the picture. You'd hate being in my kitchen. (Almost as much as I do ...)

This one is for dinner my dear p1ke; first you must taste Jamaica's favorite soup the "Manish Water" that is a mixture of different kinds of meat type but it must include mutton. Secondly you have to try out rice and curry mutton or festivals (an oval shaped fried favored dumpling) and fried or steamed fish of your choice. STOP! STOP! STOP! You can't go back home without tasting our national dish Ackee and salt fish with boiled dumplings. Would like some natural mango carrot drink beside all that or some papaya juice OK I'll just give you some bread fruit and potato juice with vanilla if you please . Just take home your dessert for i know you'd want to eat our sweet potato pudding all year round. HAPPY EATING

P1ke,if You can boil an egg,you can make muffins! A cup of plain flour,a half cup of corn meal, half a tsp baking powder, half a tsp baking soda,a couple of dessert spoons of caster sugar (more if you like 'em sweeter) a pinch of salt, about 1.5 cups of milk,1 egg, half a cup of sunflower oil,a little vanilla essence..if you like dried fruits, cherries, etc, about 1/2 cup of those can go in..or not..mix all the dry stuff, mix all the wet stuff (just stir 'em together) pour the wet into the dry, mix, not beat, and pour into muffin paper cups in a muffin tin,or use one or more of those newfangled silicone muffin cup trays-they're non stick,so no paper cups needed..this is enough for about 6.sprinkle some sugar on top,it helps mahe the tops a little crunchy..bung em in an oven at gas mark 5 for about 25 mins..(stick a sharp knife in one and make sure it comes out dry-then they're ready..) and voila! corn muffins!
