Have you tried those steam in the bag potatoes? I did

because they were the right size--my mom and I can't eat those huge potatoes, even splitting one is too much usually. So I got the bag, prepared them as instructed and--they tasted very strange! I really didn't care for the taste of them and can't describe it but it was weird. So I took the leftovers--quite a few--and fried them up and they still tasted funny. I ended up throwing the whole lot of them away, what a waste of money on something that cost more anyway because it's a convenience food! Anyone else try those kinds of potatoes? Did you like them? I may just have strange tastebuds but my mom agreed with me.

I have never tried them and after your review of them I don't think I will ever try them.

It was a waste of money! Nasty taste, too, the only good thing was the convenience and even that wasn't worth it!

I haven't tried them and most likely wont. Though I am sure that we do use some convenience foods, not very often. We generally cook things the old fashioned way. If we want steamed foods we steam them on the stove that way we can add whatever seasonings we want.

I usually cook things and don't often use the microwave but this one time I really wanted potatoes and wanted to save the electricity it would take to bake the taters! False economy, that's what it was. I spent more on less and got inferior results! Man, they were so nasty!

dragon54u those are just awful i tried them and you are'so right the taste is yucky to say the least. it takes about seven or eight minutes to bake a big potato in the microwave and they taste like a baked potato without a yucky flavor. so much cheaper'also. Even oven baking isnt that hard to do and home cooked tastes like just potato no added funny flavors.

You are so right! I'll use the microwave when I get a decent full-powered one and in the meantime I'll pay for the electric to use the oven!

I don't cook anything that's in plastic. It releases carcinogens (cancer causing agents) and we get enough junk in our systems already, I don't want to add more. Microwave safe or not, I won't put a plastic container in the microwave. It's glass or nothing for me.

My dad sent me an article about that and I went to the thrift store and bought some glass containers. I pick up little Pyrex dishes when I see them, that was one scary article! When you think of plastic make with petroleum products, it's easy to make the jump to harmful carcinogens! I agree with you. And the taste was probably from the plastic. I'll never do that again. I hate waste but throwing away a bit of potato is preferable to the harm done by plastic. I've got to get over this aversion to discarding food!

The only potatoes I have came from our field, so if they taste funny I have no-one to blame but myself Lol

I got some potatoes from the local farm yesterday and fried some up for breakfast this morning--what a difference!! I'd like to try to grow some potatoes next year, you're so blessed to have a farm.
