When was The Last Time You Went 10 Pin Bowling?

I had frineds round last night for pizza and wine and we had a 10 pin bowling match on my sons Wii. I t was so much fun and I managed to get a few striles even though my frineds daughter won overall. It got me wondering when was the last time you went bowling for real, I haven't been for years and used to thouroughly enjoy it and will go again soon now. They are building a bowling alley down on the sea front so will be active there when it opens. So tell me when did you last go? Have you ever played? If you haven't is this something you would like to do? Ellie :D

Hi ellie, I think it's great that you were able to have a 10 pin match and enjoy it so much. It's been about five years since I've been bowling, but that's because there is no place to bowl where I live. I really do enjoy 10 pin and will have to make an effort to go next time I get the opportunity. Blessings.

I went just last year Ellie. We have one in a children's leisure centre here and whilst the children are doing whatever the parents can go bowling. Clare's a bit old for ball parks etc, but we went with a couple of friends to the bowling alley. Good fun although the Boss always wins. She has a deadly aim, and don't I know it!!

Hi P1kef1sh, It great fun isn't it, I know my game last night was virtual but still quite active and we all enjoyed ourselves. I was amazed at how many strikes I got after not having played for a good while for real. Do you just let the Boss win though to keep her happy. Ellie :D

I should imagine no matter what the game she will give her all, and cheating, you?, well thats just not good sportsmanship P1key. You shock me there but you still don't win so cheating doesn't work either eh! You just have to concede defeat then. Ellie :D

Heck no Ellie. We are very competitive. I've been known to cheat to beat her at some games; and I still lose. She's very very competitive on such occasions. Wouldn't guess that from meeting her I bet. LOL.

Bowling is so much fun! I definitely prefer 10 pin over 5 pin, although I think the 5 pin really does take more skill. The last time I went bowling was about 4 years ago now. I ought to go again soon, however, it's not the most economical outing for a family of 4. The last time I was in a bowling alley was less than a month ago. My twin sons had their end of the year grade one field trip to a fantastic bowling alley here in London, Ontario. They have a dairy queen on site, so the "trip" was one game of 5 pin bowling, and then sundaes afterwards. I looked into the prices when I was there, and it wasn't too bad. The problem is that it's on the other end of town from where I live. LMAO! I haven't tried bowling on Wii... I haven't tried a Wii yet at all actually. But I've heard nothing but great things about it.

I have never seen five oin in the bowling alley, but on the Wii there is five pin as well as practice, and the amount of pins slowly increases!

olive: the 5 pin bowling uses the same length of alley and the same size of pins, but the balls are different. They are closer in size to lawn/carpet bowling balls, and don't have the finger holes in them like the 10 pin balls do. ellie: I know of someone who put their back out playing some Wii games. lol. So I don't doubt you were hurting. :) I hope you're all better now.

Hi CanadaGal, Well I haven't been actual bowling for years but the bowling last night on the Wii was fantastic fun, I even managed to get a couple of strikes and my arm was aching as much this morning as if I had been playing for real LOL. Ellie :D

It may seem like good exercise, but it probably will not get your heart rate high enough to be considered very good exercise! That is how exercise is rated today.

Hi, Olivemai! Its not cardio but its physical exercise.I lost 35 lbs in 6 weeks 3years ago. Cut down on what I ate and the only exercise I got was 2 nights a week of bowling. So I think its good exercise. Also it builds arm muscles. It takes alot for a woman to throw a 15lb ball.

hi ellie, you got my attention on this one. Bowling is now my favorite sport. Me and my friends bowl once a week and we just played last week. I won't say I'm very good at it but I could also manage to make some strikes. I just made my highest score so far last Tuesday. I scored 213, without any open frame... Bowling has became my favorite since 2 years ago when I joined the company's tournament. I was a beginner back then and am ashame to admit my ball goes to the gutter several times that I wanted to quit the tournament. It's then that we made our practice once a week and during the finals, my team emerged champion for Group B (those teams in the lower rank). My team joined the tournament once again last year and we almost won the championship for Group A. We almost beat the perennial winner.

Hi Fortknow, that is great that you play regularly and enjoy. It definitely is so much fun I agree and even though playing virtually on the Wii I did manage a few gutters, a few sparesa and a few strikes myself, my highest was about 160 so not quite in your league yet but do intend to go for real now though. Well done you for nearly beating the perennial winner Ellie :D

Hi Ellie we are lucky as we have a bowling alley on our local seafront. Bowling is great fun, and the last time I went was with my son and a few of our friends for his birthday last year. Sometimes I can play well and others the ball spends half of its time in the gutter! :) I love the feeling of getting that strike though.

Hi Ellie! My last time Bowling was a couple of weeks ago..Was out for the day with friends from work showing them some of the Coast of Donegal near here, and ended up in the resort town of Bundoran, and found a Bowling alley,so went in for a Game...Was Fun! I've only ever bowled a few times, and they were each "one off" occasions,so I've never managed to get good! There may be a new Alley open in my area..must check it out!

That sounds like a great night ellie and I love when we have a family night with the wii! The kids are coming back tonight so I am sure we will get a night like that soon. We went bowling last year on my sons birthday and although I love watching i hate not being able to take part, the other half loves that I can't play though as he could never beat me! lol I used to work in our local bowling alley when it first opened when I was about 20, I worked in the bar but a couple of managers I got on really well with had been professionals in the states and gave me some lessons, it used to freak people out the first time they bowled with me as I had the stance the approach and the proper delivery - they thought i was some kind of pro! lol x

Hi Mummymo, You are a pretty good bowler then no wonder hubby enjoys that you don't play against him and just watch them all playing these days eh! The Wii definitely is family fun unlike some of the consoles you can get which are more unsociable. I have my eldest home at the weekend so we will probably have a few games on Saturday night too. oh i havent gone in forever.. i think the last time was about 15 years or so ago, when my younger brother and i met up with a bunch of friends at the local lanes and bowled for hours. before getting there, wed stopped at a corner store to get snacks and drinks and whatnots.. and it was winter. i took a header on some ice that wasnt sanded and slipped underneath his truck smashing my arm/elbow to the point i thought id broke it! still bowled a decent game tho.. even with my arm bruised from wrist to shoulder LOL my brother however, still beat me.. his technique being to throw the ball down the lane as if he were pitching from a mound, the ball never even touching the lane until it came into contact with the pins at the other end LOL rather odd to watch, but dayumn if that boy didnt throw a strike practically every single time!! mal and i just recently talked about going now that our schedule has freed up and we are beginning to get more of a social life. im sure we will be going soon

The kids have done that before! There are some bowling alleys with games for kids, where the bowling ball cannot go down the gutter! it can go terribly slow! And we had to keep our youngest from trying to go down the lane and move the bowl faster!

Hi Tessah, Ouch your arm sounds like it was painful but well done for carrying on and still playing anyway. Last night was great fun even though it was virtual my arm is aching today and it has really made me want to go for real again myself. I hope you and Mal do get to go soon and have as much fun as I did last night with my friends. Ellie :D

I went bowling last june, before my aunt passed away. I love bowling even tho I am not that good. A lot of things seem to be happening for me not to bowl this month. I wish I could go but I am going to a friend's today, we actually made brownies to take, she is doing something similar to what you did, playing games and hanging on her home.

We had a gathering in the office and we decided to bring family and spend 5 hours playing bowling..It was fun, meeting family of our co-workers and playing with them..I do enjoy it though, I wasn't good at all! It has been at least nine years since I last went, and what a laugh it was I really enjoyed it. I tell you what though I know that it is really expensive now as we were looking into taking the kids but we just did not think it was worth how much it would cost us.

Hi Gemin_rose, I guess everything like that is expensive these days. In fact the session we had on the Wii last night as there were 6 of us would have probably cost nearly the price of the whole system to go out to play. A shame really as it is so much fun. Ellie :D
