I am not a fan of raw food especially raw fish but I do like Japanese food. On my farewell day few months ago, my ex colleagues took me to a nice Japanese restaurant. I truly enjoyed and loved the food there, it was so fresh and tasty. I am always skeptical about food with multicolors which are bright and colorful. And I trust my instinct of smell more than anything else. The display was so lovely that I had to take a photo to keep as a remembrance. All of us were admiring and mesmerized by the colorful sushi and took a few minutes to snap out of the trance. And we went quiet enjoying the food for awhile too. Everything was perfect and this colorful dish didn't disappoint me like most other food which was beautiful on presentation but not what they really seemed to be - taste awful. As for the 'durian' I certainly would try it as the aroma is so tempting and heavenly Have you ever experience this and which would lead you to the temptation of tasting the food even it could be expensive? Thank you for sharing.

I will definitely be the smell and looks of it.. I dun like colorful or fanciful foods, because it will make me think that it's not nice and thsu they use the colors to deceive ple into eating that.. lol =D But smell cant be deceiving as it really brings out the whole aroma of the food, and if the food is not nice, the aroma wun be that nice at all.. lol

Perhaps 'belacan' is the great master of all aroma and no one could actually ignore its presence for longand not fool by it. Cheers and thank you for the response.

Hello Sierra! I also like Japanese food but some don't actually smell good. I think the aroma of the food is what really attracts me. I don't usually eat food if I don't like the smell, except on some special cases. Haha! Durian? That's something from our country right? The truth is I haven't eaten one in years! Sob. Somehow attractive colors can be deceiving, I've found myself disappointed quite a few times, especially with cakes. They look oh-so-good but the taste is so lame or lack a sweet touch. The aroma for me, is definitely the source of temptation when it comes to food.

Hie Selece, yes, once the smell is good , it is so hard not to take notice and taste the food. Hopefully in future no gimmicks like to fake the smell as a strategy to boost sales I believe you could still get to taste 'durian' in cakes, ice cream, pudingsthat is if you have some craving. Cheers and thank you for sharing.

I'd usually go for the aroma; as colours can sometimes deceive. However, I was really taken in once - this man was selling braised chicken, and the aroma was simply fabulous. I was thinking, anything that smelled so heavenly, must taste good. So I bought some from him - it was terribly tasteless ; I still can't figure out why it smelled so good.

It's like our 'belacan' ( preserved shrimp paste ), the smell is really offensive but taste sooooooo good I guess one has to take the risk to taste it to know better. Cheers and thank you for sharing.

Hie Angelamp, I do hope you still like 'durian' in cakes, desserts, ice creams at least. The smell is not so strong and pretty friendly. I am always deceived by those decoration marzipan...so lovely but tasteless, and chocolate ones didn't taste like one either Cheers and thank you for sharing.

I am sometimes fooled by the look of the food so I trust my sense of smell more when it comes to tasting food. And sometimes too, I get fooled by my sense of smell but what I can say is that both really helps but for me, I trust the smell more than my sense of sight. Attractive colors make me want to look at it and get interested but the sense of smell would make me eat that food.

I would have to say that the aroma is more important to me than the display but I also like sushi, which can have a strong aroma, but I like it anyway.

Hie Spalladino, I would go for the aroma too but this time the presentation of colors were too hard to resist. And it was true enough I wasn't fooled by it and had a gala time enjoying it Cheers and thank you for the response.
