Despite the Unbelievable Increases On Gas Prices?
What Do You Do Instead?
here in the Philippines, some car owners are finding it impractical to use their cars in going to work, the mall or in running errands. They just leave their cars in the garage. Takes a taxi to wherever they are going or some will take the public transportation.
My husband does the same. He takes a bus in going to work. It would really be more comfortable using the car, so he won't be transferring from one bus to another and has to take a long walk to reach the building. In running errands, he uses the motorcycle because it is definitely cheaper gas than a car. Sometimes, he takes a "tricycle" in going around the village.
Gas prices here shoot up every week. People can't seem to keep up anymore.
If one can save a lot, then why not just leave it sitting in the garage..

In my student years & later, I used to hitchhike a lot :)
/as public transportation was quite expensive here too.. & not very convenient or widely available/
I think it's great to use public transportation or a bicycle or carpool with other people, whenever possible!! Not just because of gas prices, but also because of the planet!! We do want a healthy environment to live in, no? :)
I live in a 'countryside' area too, so taxis are not really an alternative, & buses are rare, & there's no train.. So, what one can do is schedule trips to town & do many things at one visit, carpool with other people when possible.. walk or hitchhike, hehe :)
Walking or cycling is healthy anyway!! :)

I would much rather take puclic transportation, but we don't have any there. A taxi is $20 one way to my office (I've done this). We are in mountains, so a bicycle is impractical.

Move to Guelph with your WIFE and you can ride all the public transportation you WANT! ;) We have a great system up here.

I don't have a car. I don't need a car, because I live in a town with an excellent public ransportation system. Even if I did need a car I would not be able to use it, becaue I am legally blind. I will never be able to see well enough to drive, bu that is no problem or me. I am happy the way I am.

hey, if you have a very good transportation system, then you dont really need a car even if you can..That way, you save a lot and now with these oil price hike, cars would be useless soon, if this ever go higher than what we can pay for the gas.
Wish we have a SYSTEM too here in my country..But that will be just a wish that will never happen. With the rate this country is going, I doubt it...
thanks...

i am so glad that we already bought a scooter when the price is not as high as these past few months or since the gas price often increases.
Nowadays, people are thinking of getting a scooter too but some companies have so increased their prices too that most cannot afford to even buy a simple scooter..

thanks to both of you...
