Hi all, I just got back from a trip in Canada where my roommate constantly complained about my snoring all trip long. I guess I start snoring whenever my head hits the pillow. I don't really want to buy any stop snoring devices unless I know they work. I believe I can get soem help from all of you here at MyLot. Has anybody else had a snoring problem and how do you fix it?

You should see a doctor for an evaluation. There may be medical reasons for the snoring. If not, I don't think there isn't really much out there to help you. Try to sleep with your head elevated. Sidesleepers tend to snore less, too. There is a machine your doctor can describe that'll keep your airways open. That's done when you have severe sleep apnea (stop breething while sleeping), with snoring being one of the symptoms. That's potentially deadly. If you sleep through the night and are still tired, you probably woke up a couple of times from exactly that. People are never quite aware of it. If you already wake up a couple times and don't know why, that may be the reason. When you don't get oxygen, the body tries to wake you up, so you start breathing again. Definitely get evaluated.

That sounds like a great idea- I really never thought of going to a doctor before.

It is a big problem that seems has no solution, I heard many times people who went through surgery and after so much suffering they continue to snore. I am sorry to tell you that but just get someone who does not care about you snoring.

Well, thanks for the sympathy, I am wondering if any special tools work, like nose plugs?
