How do you handle trolls?

Do you reply to them or let them be? Would you feel personally offended?
More and more trolls seem to hang around here lately and that does make mylot a less happy and nice place to be, there should be stricter rules I guess.
I do report trolling and I also tell people I will do so as I don't want to be sneaky about it and will tell them so they can change their behaviour if they feel like this. This also happened tonight and I got a very long and hatefull response back and after scanning it I decided not to read it as it would only get me pissed off to read so much crap.
Excuse the language I had to get it of my chest that these trolls annoy me big time, they should take their big mouths elsewere if they feel those who write don't have a life; they respond superfast so I guess they have little life theirselves either

You're so right! I've had some people leave
hurtful or hateful responses on my discussions.
About two months ago, when I was having some problems
at home with money (and couldn't spend all day online),
I picked up a troll.
She went around to ALL my discussions and posted
trash about me.
Like how I never followed up on my discussions.
When in fact, that was not the truth.
I had posted fifty discussions on one day just to see
if it could be done and the next day when I was going
to follow up, I got so sick and had to stay in bed for
two days.
Turns out this troll had started a hate campaign behind
my back for two weeks. She didn't take time to ask me
what was going on in my life. She just looked at the number
of discussions and made her little ignorant assumptions.
I had no idea people could be so mean and spiteful online!
A good friend of mine stuck up for me.
Your Mylot friends will stand up for you.

That's a good thing to know, I'm glad I haven't been 'trolled' so far and when someone does leave me bad notes I try to not read them and in the worst case report them. Sometimes it's the only way out to keep mylot 'clean'.
So sorry to hear a person went around talking trash about you, I agree you should try and find out why people are doing certain things. We are all here to discuss, right? That's why I posted to a person who was saying all bloggers (erm, this is not a blog but a board?) were losers and had no life, and there were all kinds of hatefull things in there. Off course little miss cyberfluf couldn't keep her mouth shut and told this lovely person to go back to their so-claimed life if they feel they have more of a life then those on mylot. If you don't like it, don't come here. And second of all, it should be discussable and this are only opinions (or somethin to that regard).
There was a very descriptive hatefull post back which I haven't read, I guess the fact I said I was going to report had really pulled the trigger or the person started to enjoy mylot some way or another .
We'll see what mylot does about it, they have never let me down before

Mylot is really good about keeping the forums clean
when someone reports a troll!

for almost sixty days now. The person trolling me is on
Mylot no more! Have no clue what happened to them, but I don't
miss their sorry butt!

Don't let them fool you! There are no such things as "trolls" on myLot. A low star rating is a Badge of honor (wear it with Pride) Those who worry about their Star Rating are second-best myLotters. Make your posts, state your ideas and don't worry about anything or anybody. Management knows what is happening here on their Site. Don't be fooled about that! Management manages the Rating just the way they want it to be. I've been at 7 for over a year and I'm not complaining. If you are not controversial your not a good myLotter. (takes 2 or more, to make a good discussion) I like to believe that I am a good myLotter. I say state my beliefs and never worry about being controversial, I've been stuck at 7 for at least a year. I wouldn't dream of complaining. I like myLot!

That's great, I like people who say what they intend to say without worrying about their starrating. With trolls I mean people who are hatefull on purpose, nothing wrong with a good discussion but there are cases of people being extremely rude without a purpose; that's not neccesairy to have a good discussion and swearing is in my opinion a lack of words. Thanks and keep having fun on mylot .
