I was watching a show on the t.v. today which featured a woman who shot her husband repeatedly in the chest while sleeping. This man had a history of abuse, and from what I gathered four ex wives. I saw a picture and he wore cowboy attire. The woman was in her fifties and would be eligible for parole in ten years (2011). What is your opinion on the age that a man or woman should not go to jail? Face it, people of all ages commit crimes. Regardless of whether their justified (in a way this woman was) they are still guilty. Would you send your grandma to jail if she committed a crime? This crime doesn't have to be of murder, it could be a simple theft but would you send her to jail? I don't think that I could send my grandmother to jail, neither could I send my grandfather. I don't think anyone would want to see that, regardless of the relationship you have with the person.

Yeah it was pretty weird watching that television show about the woman who shot her husband in the chest while he was asleep, even though I was not completely paying attention to the show, and I remember you telling me that he apparently had four ex wives and that he was abusive,I do not think I could send my grandmother to jail or my grandfather either because it would be really difficult, but I do think that you are not to old to go to jail,if you commit a crime bad enough to get you sent there,f for example if a eighty year old man commits murder,he should go to jail for at least a couple months or find another punishment that makes up for the crime, but if the same eighty year old man steals something, they should just fine him a reasonable sum to make up for whatever he stole,or maybe even put him on house a arrest, which I think house a arrest would be a good way to lock older people up,without removing them from their own homes.

I agree that punishment for the elderly should be lenient but none the less strict. I just don't want to think of your grandparents, mine or anyone else's going to jail. I appreciate your response, babys!

Yeah it definately needs to still be strict on the elderly when it comes to punishments but at the same time it should be lenient since they are elderly and I would not wish to see anyones grandparents go to jail, because it would be very sad for the person, and the persons family,I love you, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting.

i heard of a 70 yr old man going to jail for child molesting. you are never too old to go to jail unless you're bed ridden i suppose. they could put you in the prison hospital then? they will still find a way to punish you for your crime.

This is very true and I never thought of cases like this. I suppose it would depend on the crime that was committed. For this man I would suppose his punishment should be to be in jail, and your idea of putting them in the jail ward is also very good. I think that this has been done! I appreciate your response, I hope you have a wonderfully lovely day.

Justice is supposed to be blind, meaning that it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, young or old, the search for justice is the most important thing. I'm so sad for this woman but she may have had options other than taking her husband's life. I would hate to see a very old person in jail but, if they were guilty of a crime, that's what our laws are set up for.

I can understand that and I do agree. However, I just feel that part of me is very sad for the people that go to jail at this age and it makes me feel bad for the grandchildren who either never get to see their grandparents or have to visit them in jail. I know that our laws are made so that the innocent are innocent and that the guilty are guilty but it doesn't help in the fact that sometimes our system can be flawed. I appreciate your response to me, I really do. I hope that you have a very lovely and wonderful evening.
