Do you mourn the death of a fish just as you wud mourn the death of a pet cat or dog? Like if you have a pet dog or cat and it dies.. you would feel so bad about it and if it was me i would even cry. But if a fish dies??? Is it because a fish is expressionless and does not show whether it is happy or sad or whether it likes you and you cant pet it like you pet a cat or dog... Fish lovers don't get me wrong... I haven't grown fish in all my life.... Only two days back i got two pairs of goldfish.. I asked the in the shop for the instructions on how to grow them and i set the aquarium up and everything went well.. The goldfish were wonderful and i checked on them very often... But suddenly today afternoon one of them was not moving and seemed to act queer. I checked and to my horror i saw that it had died.. I felt sad and buried it in the mud... Now if it were a cat i would have cried over it. So do you feel the same or do you feel differently? Please share your thoughts with us.

i guess it depends on how long ive had the fish. if only a couple days or even weeks then im bummed out, but i wouldnt cry. currently i am preparing myself for the inevitable passing of my one and only fish...Fishy. ive had him for 4 years now, and im pretty sure that 5years is the high end of a Bettas expected life span. he has had a good life, everything i could provide him lol..including treats. he does occasionally like to be "petted" or at least tolerates when i stick my finger in the tank and brush his sides. i can call "fishy" in a high pitched voice from the other side of the livingroom and he will come swimming over to the side of the tank im closest to. which is a pretty neat trick, but i know he recognizes the tone as the same one i use when its feeding time lol! he hasnt been acting himself for the past 3 days..in fact he has only eaten 1 little pellet in 3 days! doesnt appear to be sick, at least doesnt have any outward signs of infection or disease..but he pretty much is listless, not hungry and not interested when i put food in the water at all..not even to come see what the "fuss" is about. so..im expecting him to die in a day or two more...and yes i will cry.
