I do with a lot of foods but not everything. Certain foods I put more in than others but I don't try to smother it with salt. I do use more pepper than salt in a lot of things.

I love pepper and spice. I probably add pepper to things as often as salt. For people who are trying to cut down on salt, there are pepper blends (like with thyme, garlic, lemon, pepper) that can make up for salt.

I like adding salt to my food but not things like my coffee, puddings, or cakes. I just never heard of that this is the first time of me hearing of that one and very interesting each to his/her own I guess. I think that today our food already comes with enough salt ( sodium ) in it. But I do find it interesting how your grandmother does it the way she does.

I do put salt in just about everything...I like it too much. It brings out a lot of flavor. I don't put it in coffee or tea though.

I add salt to savory dishes but not sweet things, for instance when I steam my veggies, I usually drizzle olive oil and roughly ground sea salt, other seasonings, garlic, pepper. I add salt to meats when I'm cooking them, potatoes, pasta, rice, noodles, etc. I do not add salt to fruit, desserts (unless a recipe calls for salt) or drinks such as tea, soda, juice, or coffee.
